BaronSomebody
First time poster here, a few days being a lurker. So, I got a question, being a newbie on FNV mod user that I am, what is FOMOD and is it different from FOMM? I know the latter, FOMM is a custom mod validator and manager, I know how to determine the load order for some of the mods I played, check what the custom ID number for the Mod item so I can spawn it in-game via console with FOMM function, but recently I browsed through some mods that requires something called Type 3 body for female, and I need this particular mod to run it. That Beware of Girl Type 3 mod seems to warn me that its for FOMOD and waiting for FOMM to catch up. So I am now under the impression that using FOMOD required mods with FOMM is not compatible. Can I get some friendly veteran member to clarify this to me, or point me at a FAQ or something?
M48A5
You should check the dates that for when the mod/s were uploaded. The warning on the BOG page is outdated, the mod author never made the change. For your initial question, Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) is just that. A mod manager. A FoMod is a mod that has been packaged in such a way that it should be simple to install using FOMM. You also need to pay better attention to what is written on the description pages. The mod author said that they are waiting for archive invalidation to catch-up with Fallout: New Vegas. The BOG file was first uploaded as a manually installed mod. A FoMod was made available since the initial upload.
BaronSomebody
snippedAnother question; If I have this mod but it says it needed BOG/Type 3 body, will the mod would look okay without it? And for that matter, how would BOG/Type 3 thing work? Do they change all the female body type?
M48A5
Since it is a port, if it was done correctly, what you need is the Type 3 body textures. The Type 3 Body replacer only replaces the nude body of all the females in the game. It does not change the shape of any armor. There is the nude body mesh and then there is the body mesh used with clothing/armor. They are completely separate and do not interact with each other. Only the textures will change to match the shape of the body. The way the armor works is that 99% of the time all the exposed skin is part of the armor mod. None of the armor/clothing in the game will change to match the body type of the nude body. That is why there are different body type armor/clothing mods. There are a few pieces of clothing that are made to be worn over the same type nude body. Some of the Type 3M and Type 3F are like that.
GamerRick
A .fomod file is like a .zip file. I can open them in 7-zip, just like they were a zip file. I have done this to then unzip the fomod to a temp directory and then manually piece it together into the format Wrye BASH wants (which also works with Vortex I think).
