Most ppl don't realize this either. I don't think you have to publish the source, just provide it if asked, and not like most people ever do that. Typical open source license only requires that you provide the source if asked. That's how popular replacement firmware for some routers got created, Linksys made the mistake of letting people know they were Linux based and were force to release the source. Bang, DD-WRT and it's offshoots. And what the README says is "Note that plugins must have their source code publicly available."
