To Anyone Posting New Plugins

If your having trouble posting your plugin to mwsource. Or if you would like to post it to multiple p2p networks (gnutella 1, 2 and edonkey2000). Or if the mod is just larger than the new filesize limit that mwsource database currently allows.

Then here is another option, maybe even a better option than posting them to the mwsource mod database.

You can upload it to me for distribution through several p2p networks. Either by posting a p2p hash in this thread or by sending me a pm containing the bittorrent's torrent file or through email (pm me for an address to send it to).

Upload limitations -

There are no filesize limitations on uploading via P2P, bittorrent (well as long as it isn't gigabytes in size, lol).

However there are limitations to uploading them through email. My Email account has a 9mb size per email and a maximum of around 90 mb at a time; also you should give the attachments an extension of .dat and only upload rar archives this way.

File type and format limitations -

All mods need to be in rar archives and not contain any viruses or adware installers (let's keep things clean people).

Mod Archive Guidelines

Please mod authors when you are making mod archives, include an readme.txt file, an description.txt (with just the description), the "\data files\" subfolder (which should contain all of the mod's files including the .esp and .esm files and any subfolders for graphics and screenshots in an "\mods\modname\" subfolder), to make it easy for end users to simply extract the data files folder to their morrowind installations folder.

Please do not try and be fancy by packing your mod into an installer or something. Let's try to keep things simple and clean.

Once I have download the mod, I'll provide a p2p host for it and verify it (check it for viruses, adware installers, etc).

When my morrowind section for my website is finally finished all submitted mods will be included there and downloadable via several p2p networks.

Also if you uploaded it to me through bittorrent or by email I'll post the p2p links for it in this thread and pm you an copy then you can post them to other online forums and websites (if they allow that, as I'm assuming that mwsource does).

Regarding older plugins.

I hope that at an few nice users will find, cleanup, rearchive and submit older plugins as well. As I considered doing this myself, however that would take forever for just one person to handle and probably wouldn't be as complete.

I hope this thread get's stickied, lol.

Not really sure about this one. The rules are really that discussion of anything illegal is banned - use of those programs can result in illegal activity, but in this case you're just talking about uploading things that are free anyway. And it sounds like a pretty good idea to me. But you do still mention the software... probably alright really. ;)

I'll move this to Plugins and see what the others think.

Update :construction:

I'm still hard at work on my sites morrowind section, it's taking a long time and lots of work. When it's ready it will have more than 690 existing mods listed. All of which will have p2p download links and most should have detailed entries. Unfortunately not all mods come with such details; however they can be filled in later.

Once the section is ready, it will be upload to my website, at that time anyone who has an mod that is not listed can submit it to me for inclusion into the listings (as I'm sure there are more than the 690+ mods that I have).

The initial setup is proving to be major work; however once it's finished, maintenance and additions to it will be easy enough. :D

I'd say one of my goals that I hope to achieve in creating this listing of mods, is to provide the largest most accessible listing of mods in existence.
