Oblivion Graphics Keep Reverting to Different Settings

My Oblivion graphics keep changing to lower graphics, and it's getting annoying. I run the game on the highest settings with quite a bit of ease, and I've tried a lot of things. I always run the program with administrative access, and I've tried making my Oblivion.ini file read-only, but that only seemed to make the issue arise quicker.

What would you recommend I do? My system specs are, in case it somehow matters:

Pentium D 820

5GB DDR2-667 RAM (odd amount, yes)

GeForce 9600 GT

Windows Vista Home Premium x64

So yeah. I would like this fixed. D: Thanks beforehand! :)

Are you using streamline?

Yes, I am.

EDIT

Looking through Streamline's INI file, I think I've found the issue. I just worked with Oblivion.ini, so yeah. :P Let's hope this works. I'll provide an update the situation when I get a chance.

Okay, after looking switching the INI file to disallow it to switch stuff "on the fly", the issue persists. :\ I can't figure out why this would be happening, but it is incredibly annoying.

EDIT

Okay, even deleting the INI file in the Oblivion folder that holds save games didn't help. I CANNOT GET THESE SETTINGS TO STAY!! =(

EDIT 2

Well, Streamline is what's causing the "problem". I disabled its ESP and the settings are solid as ice now. Any idea on what tweaks I could make to it so that my settings are permanent? Thanks! :)

Reenable streamline, launch the game.....after you are in game a couple of minutes make your changes to your settings, open the console and type in "saveini" without the quotes.

Close the console, and exit the game.

Relaunch OB, and check to ensure that your settings are entact...if so all is good.

If not, disable Streamline.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

The way streamline works is by doing exactly what you are seeing, changing the graphics on the fly. It does this in order to keep your FPS up in the range you specified. The more 'stuff' that is happening, the worse your graphics will get. Then when you finish combat, or whatever was loading it down, the graphics will return to a better level.

Unfortunately, the streamline 3.1 is and will remain a beta. The maker has moved on and has not been seen for several months.

I knew what was causing your woes because i too used streamline back when i had an inferior GPU (Onboard GeForce 6150 SE) but once i got my Geforce 8400 GS I no longer needed it and even though you have an older single core processor, you really don't need it with a 9600 GT.

Yeah. I re-enabled Streamline AFTER I tweaked its INI. Apparently, it wouldn't change the settings unless I disabled and enabled its ESP file. So yeah, it's all good now. I actually tried the SaveINI thing before, too. It would properly save it, but Streamline would change it.

That's actually the FPS smoother, which I disabled. It did work well, but my computer got constantly higher FPS without it. It does its job well, but was more of a burden to me since I am infinitely more CPU-bound than GPU-bound.

Yeah, I don't really need the FPS smoother, but I really like Streamline itself since it purges my cache, which would cause a lot of stuttering. The stuttering would happen after extended play, but with Streamline I can now rest or sleep and the cache will be reset, thus fixing that stuttering. Also, about the single core processor thing, as much as it sucks, the Pentium D is, in fact, a physical dual core. It's horrible, but it's still a dual core. I'll be replacing it with a Core i7 when I build my new computer soon enough, though. =D

So yeah, thanks for the quick replies everyone! :) Glad this was sorted out.
