Rennn
I really hate point and click hack'n'slashes. I know it's blasphemy, but I can't stand Torchlight or Baldur's Gate simply because I'm unable and unwilling to adapt to pure mouse control. Not that they're bad games, by all accounts they're amazing. Just not for me. The lack of WASD or the presence of a hit-chance is too aggravating for me. My favorite hack'n'slash (believe it or not) was the original Untold Legends for the PSP, as that had a mostly open world with analog control and a 100% chance to hit. It was for the PSP and not the PC, however, which is a serious blow. With that in mind, I prefer Sacred 2. It has WASD controls and an open world, but more importantly, it's for the PC. Sacred 2 still has a hit-chance, however. In the Sacred 2 Balance.txt, I found a value to edit to change the player hit chance to 100%. Unfortunately, this has the unplayable side effect of giving all the enemies a 0% hit chance. Does anyone know some way to mod or tweak Sacred 2 to give all enemies and the player a 100% chance to hit, hopefully while making the skills that would increase chance to hit just affect the chance to deal higher damage instead? I'm guessing this is impossible, as I've scoured the internet for a couple weeks to no avail. Most people don't even seem to know what any of the files even do. In addition, does anyone know of any similar hacky and slashy games with a 100% hit chance and WASD controls? The more open, the better. I already know of several which don't fit my requirements:-Baldur's Gate-Icewind Dale-Diablo-Dungeon Siege (1,2)-Torchlight-Divine Divinity-Magicka-Legends of Dawn-Silverfall (unless the DLC that added WASD controls also streamlined combat?)-Dragon Age: Origins (MMO combat = meh. Still great games though)-Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (very linear)-Path of Exile
Iv000
I'm sorry I don't know how to help, I just want to know is Sacred 2 good? I have Torchlight 2 and it's kinda fun, but I think i need something more open world and stuff. Would you recommend Sacred 2? A shame I forgot to get it during the summer sale :/ Edited July 23, 2013 by Iv000
hoofhearted4
Sacred 2 is a little outdated at this point. i played it back when it was newish on the PS3. i have it for PC as well, but only a few hours into. that said, if Sacred 2 is a game youd enjoy (as in the type of game) then yes. its a hilarious game that doesnt take itself serious. its easy to pick up and understand and easy to sink hours into. and sink hours you can. there is a gigantic map, with hundreds of quests and side quests, tons to do. what about Kingdoms of Amalur? ive never played past the Demo myself but it was one of those games that, while it didnt sell well (and cause the company to go bankrupt lol) those who bought it loved it. Vagrant0
I don't recall Torchlight 2 having any issues with hitting a target unless you were going with a ranged character. But yeah, it's probably that whole playstyle you just don't like. If you don't mind waiting, you might want to take a look at cubeworldhttps://picroma.com/cubeworld It plays pretty well for still being in alpha, and there is lots of potential in the world. The only real downside is the aesthetic is something some people may not like, and there is a fairly large gap in later game content. Beyond that, you might just need to stick to games like Skyrim, Dishonored, Darksiders, Witcher, Dark souls... which have a mostly 1st person or behind player sort of style. A shame I forgot to get it during the summer sale :/ I recommend it, provided open world can replace story for you, since there's no worthwhile writing in Sacred 2.Sacred 2 is quite open. Half the game world starts out open (though you can make it to the other bits early if you're suicidal). A couple hours into the story, the rest of the map opens up as well.Enemies are very common, as is typical for this type of game. Aggro a large enough group and you can get something similar in size to a zombie horde chasing you. There are a lot of easter eggs, ranging from funny tombstone engravings to fully featured quests that break the fourth wall. There are a lot of quests... Like, life consuming amounts of quests. I haven't seen a quest journal overflow this quickly since Skyrim. The environments are very unique. I'm not sure how Ascaron managed to put so much detail into a game containing fully realized desert, deciduous, swamp, jungle, volcanic, northwoods, and tundra biomes, especially considering each region is huge and has completely unique assets. The game isn't especially badly optimized, but it does go overboard on effects. You'll know what I mean when you see the fields of PhysX grass and gravel. The best optimization is simply to turn the shadows from very high down to high if you encounter framerate problems, as that comes with a minimal visual impact but a difference of about 10 fps. The fact you missed it during the summer sale probably isn't a huge problem. The Gold Edition (best version, imo, since it includes the DLC and avoids the PhysX installer bugs that plagued the retail version) is only $10 on Steam, and it's easily worth that price. I never really got into building things. i never played on a Server. and all in all i never really got that far. because Minecraft is just one big grind. and i would get board of simply mining before I could really get anywhere. building an Ender Portal was probably the furthest i made it. doing it legit does take awhile, getting the diamond and whatnot. but a game like Cubeworld, has all the things I would have liked to have had in Minecraft. upgrades, classes, skills etc. i understand though its not minecraft at all except similar in looks. I doubt youll be building things or mining (beyond crafting). im still interested in this game for sure.

Rennn
Thanks for the mini review, it sounds like my type of game for sure, but only $10 on Steam, and it's easily worth that price. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_images/underground/attachicon.gifUntitled.png :/ Ah, it appears that I was looking at Sacred 1 Gold. :sad:My review and everything is still for Sacred 2 Gold, I just got the price mixed up. Typing Sacred Gold in the Steam search evidently doesn't show Sacred 2 as a result. Well, I bought it for $20 and I think it was worth it, but I also played Sacred 2 on my PS3 so I already knew that I liked it. You might want to wait for a sale. I do not recommend buying a regular version if you can avoid it, as their PhysX installer is supposed to break the current PhysX drivers somehow. That's what I've heard, though having gone straight from the PS3 to the PC Gold Edition, I can't confirm it personally. The Gold Edition certainly does not have this problem.
