realistic proposal

i always thought that proposing in skyrim is both:

1.waaaaaay too easy and quick.

2. really really boring and dull.

so i thought it might be a good idea to have a mod that lets you have one of the two:

1.have a dating circle that includs conversation between the npc and the player and lets you have the option to succsesfully continue your realationship

or screw it up.

2. have a normal human way of proposing like getting on one knee or something.

now this is of course (not so obvious after all) just for male, it could be the same for female or with a female character you can have a realationship and wait for the male your dating to propose to you.

i really hope this idea catches i think its really really smart and clever.

I like the idea, but the problem is I don't think a lot of it would be able to be implemented to the vanilla followers/spouses due to the fact they have their own voice sets, scripts, and some of them have actual quests tied to them (For example Vilkas and Farkas). Now for custom followers, it's something for the modder to think about. FNIS would probably be required for the animations, SKSE possibly for the 'dating circle'. If there is a way, I'd love to see it presented. To be honest I think that people should start looking into voice acting for follower projects (and modders finding the right voice that fits with the character for immersion). I'd certainly consider it for the right character though.

first of all thank you.

secondly, the mod could rely on a few other mods so i dont think it should be a problem.

there are a lot and i mean a LOT of mods out there that add a bunch of followers and marriagble npc.

worst thing that can happen is that there is no voice acting, it would be horibble but still better than the vanilla.

I think I'd faint of excitement just with my hubby going down on one knee! There are sneaking animations that maybe could be used for that. If only you could have others ask for your hand... I'd be awesome!

Yes, I would take no voice acting over nothing. On the other hand, I believe there is always a way to make it work if the writer/modder writes the dialogues in a way where the spouse uses only vanilla voices in an intelligent way. I guess you the silent main character will be doing most of the talking and your spouse (or future spouse) will be making short replies. Or they can be long ... like I said depends on how the writer/modder mixes up with the vanilla voices - just a matter of some wit and effort I suppose.

Anyways, I am always looking for mods that will enhance the Skyrim marriage/spouse system since the vanilla sure is lacking.

Btw, there IS a mod on Steam Workshop that does improve it - To Have and To Hold. I haven't played it but from what I read, it does extend the proposal aspect. The coolest feature in it I think is how different people will attend your wedding depending on what quests you have done. It's not written on the page but it was featured on a video I believe. Unfortunately the mod was last updated on May 2012 and seems to be in an incomplete state. So yeah, hopefully someone else can pick it up and add onto it.

i think this mod could get very very popular if a modder decides to grab the chance to do this.

the most important thing right now in my opinion is to drop all the replys of improvments and just get the idea to spread around, if a lot of people will view and comment the chance that this would be created is bigger. im not saying you shouldnt comment on improvments im just making a point.
