OK, because there is an interest in - a short overview :cool:

How to install Mods

the folder structure must be correct!

all mods come as package -> unpack them

first of all: You can backup your data folder before installing mods. This helps to avoid problems.

now you have unpacked and the result is:

- there is a data folder -> copy the content of the downloaded data folder into the data folder of your game

- there is no data folder, but other files and folders -> copy that into your game data folder

(Folders like: Textures, Sound, ... or Files like: *.esp, Archivinvalidation.txt -> copy into data dir)

to get them working: "Archivinalidation" -> use FOMM or AI-Invalidated

if you use Archivinvalidation.txt instead of FOMM or AI-Invalidated, set bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to 1 in your Fallout.ini (found in MyDocuments/MyGames/Fallout3)

check your G.E.C.K. Mods (*.esp) at your launcher

--> finished, start a game

====================================================

General Tips:

Mods are best installed by your own. Avoid extracting something directly into your Data-folder.

(don't know why people do so)

1. There could be a ReadMe -> It`s recommended to read it before you install

2. Only add one Mod by one. -> Test it.

If you install a plenty of Mods, you`ll probably have to spent a plenty of time to figure out, why your game is crashing all over.

3. Make a savegame that is "clean". -> You could need it later - just to be sure.

4. If you have installed a mod by your self, you`ll know how to remove it

5. If something went terrible wrong, you will be lucky if you have Backed up your data - folder

--------------------

Sometimes Modders get their file structures not correct

In that case you could try to correct this by your own. Use a tool like FO3 Archive Utility to open the *.bsa archives (e.g. Fallout - Textures.bsa) to get an idea, how the folder structure has to look like

but do not try to change the *.bsa Archives!

hope that helps

enjoy fallout3nexus ;)

don`t forget to rate and comment a tested mod. keep in mind it is a lot of work
