Hey everyone so like the title says I recently got back into skyrim after a good 5-6 month break from the game. How ever this time around im notcing alot more bugs (mostly in Quests and a few with mods that i used before).

So far for the quest bugs After starting the theives guild, when you have to go around to the 3 shops getting the payments, When i was going to get Bersi Honey-hands payment the store was always locked no matter what time of day. I had to lockpick pay fine to complete that part of the quest. Also once completing that quest after talking to Brynjolf i noticed that the quest where he has me follow him into the main part of the guild didnt show up right after talking to him he only said something along the lines of follow me and jus sat back town at the little tavern they have in the guild.

Also on the Dark brotherhood quest (Mourning never comes)After killing the 2 people for Muiri's reward wasnt right after i told her that i finished her task, i got her ring about 5 mins later when i was killing some bandits. Upon going back into the Darkbrotherhood Sancturay. I talked to Astrid telling her i completed the previous quest, she goes on talling me about Cicero and the conspiracy (Whispers in the Dark). once done talking with Astrid The Dialog stays on the last Dialog box quest not activating nothing, i even used a control command to beat the quest but even still that does no help.

But i have near 120 mods using BOSS so they are in the right order, How ever like i said before in my previous playthrough i never had these problems.

Well typing this i realized i didnt redownload the Unnoffical patch. Hopefully that fixes everything. Incase it dosent what else could be going wrong

BOSS is good, but not perfect. Have you hand placed the mods that BOSS doesn't recognize? Also, have you read the BOSS log and addressed all the messages it gives you?

The kind of errors you are getting suggest to me more than load order problems, however--either mods that were removed/updated causing broken scripts, (or mods updating themselves if you use steam workshop mods at all) or maybe since it has been so long, it could be that the latest steam patch caused the problems.

If you want to test whether the problem is with your current savegame, or mod related, you might try starting a new game, making no other changes, just hit "new" instead of "continue." If you are able to start a new game and you have no problems, then it is simply a matter of your savegame. Then you can try going back to previous saves with the character you have, hoping to find a savegame that works, or (more likely, given the update issue) you will probably need to start a new game, but at least you know you don't have to rebuild your mods list.

If you start a new game and immediately have problems, then you are going to need to look at your mods list. It may be that some mods need to be updated for the new patch, or it may be that you have to reevaluate your load order, for example. Personally I think it is overall faster to start with a clean instance of skyrim (I use the STEP Guide's revert to vanilla) and start fresh.

Finally, I would suggest that once you get everything working again, you consider avoiding the workshop for mods, since they will update and also remove mods without your active participation, which can break your game. Also, though the updates are probably going to be slowing down quite a bit now, I would still recommend keeping steam in "offline mode" if you can (this isn't possible if you have other steam games you play on their servers, I know), until you are ready to start a new character, so that your game stays stable.

Anyway, those are my ideas. Hope something there is useful to you!

If you removed all your mods, try this.

Open your data folder, and delete the "scripts" folder. Vanilla scripts are packed in a bsa, everything here was added by a mod.

Scripts can keep running after you uninstall a mod, because they are tied to your savegame, and can bog down the Papyrus Manager.

But if you want to start fresh, i'd recommend a reinstall.

150 mods is way not too much, im running skyrim smoothly with 253 activated esm's and esp's and i dont use any unofficial patch and everything is working without errors. I have 174 pex files in my script folder and i dont have any lag whatsoever. The only thing i can think of like most of us you installed new mods and uninstalled some or updated existing mods, this in rare cases destroys the SAVED game files. What you will have to do is takes a long road: make a list of the current installed mods, uninstall them all and start a new game as vanilla skyrim, reach the point the error occur and save and install the mods one by one and test it for abit to see what is making errors, everytime you get a problem try to reload a save before even getting the quest. Try to avoid mod updates, make a text log for a history of installed mods to hunt down any conflicts and try not to uninstall mods if you want to keep playing the current character and if you uninstall pex files in the script folder you must start a new game, thats how skyrim works. I dont use nexus manager, i install mods manually and i have steam but i bought the game on its release date with the box of dvd's so i can avoid auto updates for mods...
