Yes, that would be a bit of a social faux pas. I haven't tried it yet, though. Although I got attacked by the Seneschal at Dawnstar Jarl's hall when he asked me how I could wear that filthy costume (an Imperial uniform) and I asked him "What's wrong with the Imperials?"
