How to run script once per session, without GameMode?

It always "eats at me" when I try to provide constructive input and get ignored, because 1) it's just flat our rude. and 2) it doesn't help anyone else either. I put effort into testing this to help out.

 

I thought you were a really knowledgeable mod author and enjoy discussing concepts and learning new things. Now I don't now what to think. probably best if I just leave....

You need to be open ... and adjust to the feed back you get ... not curl up in a ball.

OK, but you still can't do the StopQuest command in the Menu 4 block. Open the console and do a GetQuestRunning AAAFyTyWeapReachQuest command.to see it.

 

You can't make really dumb mistakes and expect me to argue with you about something i've been doing for decades as a job.

...We're not having an argument though. It's a discussion. If this is something that actually eats at you, you need to sort yourself out.

 

 

This is where I started to get a bit miffed. I point out that the StopQuest doesn't do anything when its done before a save-game is loaded. I also notice that the script running in MenuMode 4 continues to run as long as you are at the startup main menu, and you need to account for that. He/she turns it into a personal thing, while still avoiding the issues.

 

It isn't a discussion in my mind, if you ignore the things I found when I actually tested it. He/she also seems to have ignored the post where I pointed out that it is not the best solution for the run-onetime-only script and needs changes if it is to run as a once-per-gameload thing. In the latter case, you don't want to do the StopQuest command anyway, because you want that quest to run ONCE whenever you are at the start menu.

 

So no, even though I am thoughtful and self reflective enough to know when I may have reacted badly, I don't see it here.

 

Another false statement FiftyTify made is:

No, quest scripts run as often as the quest's script delay processing. The default is every 5 seconds, which (at 30 FPS) is 9000 frames between calls for one script.

Sorry if I'm being the twit here. I wanted to discuss the topic and even did some of my own testing to help out. I expected some confirmation of that and got nothing intelligible back. That is just the way I roll baby.

 

When talking to total strangers about things on a net forum, you can't expect people that don't know you to figure out what you meant, when you type something like that. Were you agreeing with me, telling me I am wrong, or what? I am talking about my post on page 2 (#15) and his response (#16). I still have no clue what you meant by that. I tried to politely get more info from Fifty in the next few posts, and nothing came. So I got more confrontational, and got accused of being the one who's arguing, even though I still had no confirmation you understood anything I said in post #15.

 

Enough. Mktavish, you need to find better things to do than jump into a thread like you did here.

Yeah this got way, way out of hand. @Mktavish, this is how things go with professional types. I bailed early on as it's always the same spiral with folk like GamerRick. You try to be reasonable and secular, but then they get nasty.
