People are always saying how cheats and codes for x-box just ruin it. That they get bored of godlike power within 30 secs.Well I just heard from someone who has a level 1000 High Elf with 10,000 health, 300 magicka, 570 fatigue by using mods.Would that not be classified as the same thing?I'm not saying all mods just certain ones.

I would never seriously use a mod that added weapons or armor, because I'm being given an advantage/disadvantage/ability that was not given to me by the game. But mods that add new npc's/lands/towns/houses/stories/whatever are fine with me.

When I first joined I started a thread on cheating. I think it is a matter of personal interpretation.

For instance, there are many threads about how to make money quickly. These seem to involve camping out by the creeper or mudcrab for ages. It is all perfectly legit and in game. Once you know you can do it (and have done it without 'cheating'), I don't think it is so important if you play a mod that gives you more money or gives the mudcrab/creeper more money. All you are doing is saving game time.

On the other hand mods that make you unbeatable at level one would be entirely inappropriate imo.

But if you have completed the game without cheating it's not a bad idea to try mods and see what they do. Even if they introduce unbalancing items you don't have to use them. If the plotline is good go for it.

And talking of unbalancing items - what of Helseth's ring? And that is in game!

It's all a matter of personal taste, and common sense. Some mods can be considered cheat mods (e.g. "In my mod, I just added a sword of Mass Destruction which causes 20000 fire damage in a radius of 300, you can find it in a barrel at the Census and Excise office in Seyda Neen"), while others, while they still add weapons, armor, NPCs, quests and so on, can't be considered cheating.

A mod that would increase the variety of "common" weapons, by adding flamberges, flails, gladiums, and anything else that fits in the gameworld (i.e. no bazookas, no pistols, but no rapiers as well, because I'd think that a rapier would feel out of place in Morrowind) wouldn't be "cheating", because it'd give no advantages to the PC.

A mod that increased the range of spears, would give the player an advantage, but it wouldn't still be "cheating" in my opinion, because it's more like a fix from an error made by Bethesda. Why should spears be as long as, and even have the same range as a claymore?

Speaking of which... does anyone know of a good mod by which I can increase (even graphically) the length of spears, and maybe get pikes too? :)
