Vortex login/registry not working

Hi, everyone -

If this question has been answered before I sincerely apologize . . .

I recently installed Vortex on a new computer -Windows 10 machine - but for some reason, it will not log in to Nexusmods.

When I click on either log in /register buttons a little spinning logo appears underneath and that's it. On my other PC it works just fine.

I've tried a few antivirus tweaks as supplied by forums and Reddit posts, but those have not solved the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

the message tells you what you need to do - login to the nexus mods website to log in to vortex.

 

use the same account/password on the website and in vortex. if that still doesn't work send an email to support asking for them to help you with your passwords. but be aware you may not get a reply as they don't work weekends.

Hi and thanks for the reply --

I do all those things, but nothing happens on the Vortex side. I'm getting an update failed message too - like Vortex has issues connecting to the internet, which would be strange since I gave the app permission through the firewall and the anti-virus software.

where do you get the update failed message from? can you get a screen shot and share it?

what anitvirus are you using?

Hi --

I'm using Windows Defender, same as on my other PC with the working Vortex.

Attached the error when attempting to update as well as the error code (hope that helps).

Hi - I have the exact same problem. Vortex will not connect to Nexus and gives me an update error.

 

Error: net::ERR_TIMED_OUT
at SimpleURLLoaderWrapper.<anonymous> (electron/js2c/browser_init.js:105:6536)
at SimpleURLLoaderWrapper.emit (events.js:315:20)

 

Anyone have an idea?

not at all the "exact same problem". open a new ticket.

I would guess there is something wrong with the security settings on your PC, perhaps anti-virus apps messing up Vortex's ability to connect to our servers?

Same problem here

"API key validation timed out"

Resetting the api and trying again doesn't fix it. Generally after a few days it make work again but has been like this all day?

I also get the spinning vortex thing when clicking login.

I should add have gotten this quite a few times before as well

that is obviously a network issue - post in the general feedback forum as vortex would be the victim here, not the cause.
