i have never had an issue with his dilemma. Because the blades are dragon hunters. I see no reason why a blade would not give a Dragonborn that ultimatum as they see all dragons as evil. if they had a Thalmor help you in the start of the game and then made the blades such an ultimatum that we needed to kill that thalmor people would not think that it would be strange to give such an ultimatum. Because as far as they are concerned you are talking with the enemy, an dragon. If it was a good written thalmor they gave the ultimatum about instead people would not be that angry about it.

BUT i think that they should make a truce, one greybeard starts to learn one blade about how to use the thuum, in exchange for that they have say in witch dragons to slay and witch to kill and so they gain more power (the blades) and the greybeards can save those who follow the way of the voice with the ability to send blades after the dragons who break away from the way after they have joined.

I also use a mod because this whole 'dilema' is just anoying. Look, the Dragonborn dispatched Alduin the world eater, just how much trouble is he going to have with old Parthunaax in the event he gets out of line? Really!

So where are the dialog lines to tell the Blades to button it! Because the Dragonborn will be keeping a friendly eye on Parthunaax (and his pals). Job done, where is the dilema here, the 'Old One' is effectivly on parole.

For Me I choose neither the lame excuse for the protecters of the dragonborn or 4 old men living together in a tall mountain and all they do is talk to the sky, I wish there was a third option like The Thalmor that way I could kill the blades, and stop listening to those gaybeards

(Just my opinion, dont go rage on me for insulting them and liking the thalmor)

The Blades serves the Dragonborn, not the other way around.

If they can ban the dragonborn for not following a command, then they are nothing more then a bunch of fanatics doomed by their own ideology. Just like the brotherhood from fallout.

Paarthurnax at least recognizes himself as a potential threat. The blades, on the other hand, are blindly following old beliefs without question.

Paarthurnax defends the Blades behavior, so I'm not sure where people get the whole "Blades are holier than thou" angle from. It's to be expected, completely rational behavior. Furthermore, if indeed Paarthurnax was the one sent by Kyne to teach mankind the Thu'um (as some interpret Nord legend), then he has long since served his purpose anyway.

I'm a historical buff. So when I have access to a living, breathing intellgent being who could give me first hand information....no contest, Parth lives, and Delphine can have a heart attack.

just to be clear its only Parth I like. The Greybeards are too zen and pacifist for me, while the Blades and their genocide is waaay to over the top.

So I think Parth and I would form our own group(s). The Tamrielic Historical Society or PAD (Protection of Aged Dragons)

OK, then tell me when humanity has served its purpose, so I can slaughter them en masse.
