What ENB to choose?

ENB can change environment lighting, sky and clouds, it add screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO), it can change how fire effects look, it support self programmed hlsl codes if you know what you are doing, etc etc.

Yes it takes a big hit on performance. But presets like Stakado cinemascope ENB affects just a tiny bit. A nice Cot ENB preset is the classic prOPA ENB.

Fxaa is not better than ENB.

But thats just my opinion.

I never said FXAA was better. But it comes down to ones opinion. To me the hit with an ENB was not worth it to me. I tried to use them and I really liked the look of the ENBs I tried. Heck, there are some amazing screenshots of ENBs that I love. But after using FXAA and setting it to my liking I feel I have a good Skyrim, that I play, not anyone else. So its all about what the player likes. And I still have solid FPS and no crashes. If you computer can run a ENB and the mods you wants just fine I recommend and ENB. But with my experience on FXAA, I do recommend it for those that don't want a performance it.

Your game is everything people make fun of and ridicule about ENBs.

Are you talking about my Screenshots? Those are not using ENB its with FXAA. I have saturation up because I like brighter greens and blues.

Yeah I know what you mean. My own preset has gotten both good and bad critics (mostly bad rofl). But I made my preset so it would fit my iwn game style, mods and such. And Fxaa has some very great features that can be hard to recreate in ENB. Personally I like SweetFX cuz of Luma Sharpen. But again its all about taste! Nothing is either wrong or right. Just dufferent. :)

ENBs deliver great grafical experience and they add effects you simply can't add with an FXAA injector mod and/or with override settings by Nvidia Inspector, especially shadowing, lighting and colors...but it will definitely hurt your performance.

Btw, you posted your CPU, RAM and grafic card, but you didn't tell us your screen size and the resolution you wanne play. Screen size and resolution matters a lot.

I once was tempted to try an ENB too, but I run Skyrim on a 27'' with 2560 x 1440 resolution (and I never ever want back to "only" HD) and I use 2 x Asus 670 GTX 4 GB RAM each in SLI. I use the good old RCRNv36 FXAA with volumetric fog effect, which delivers harsh and realistic white and desaturated lighting, ELFX and tons of mods in addition. I already had to downgrade some main texture mods to their light/basic versions (Skyrim HD 2k, SFO for example), because I encountered the 3.1 GB RAM limitation and would have ended in the CTD and endless loading loop hell otherwise. My grafic settings are 2x SSAA for "normaI" AA, 4 SGSAA for transp. AA, ambient occlusion quality (high quality isn't worth it really, 20fps less for some darker shadowing), 16x AF.

I have 55-60 fps indoors with 3 followers around (Vsync on) and around 30 to 50 outdoors. The 30 fps are really rare, but there are some places in Skyrim, where you are surrounded by tons of vegetation while still able to watch loads of structures or trees etc. at all LOD steps (Dragonbridge and Windhelm stables for example are such "performance holes").

Another point to mention is...do you hate "aliasing jaggies" or does that not matter for you? With FXAA injectors and forced grafic settings over Nvidia Inspector you won't see any jaggies anymore. Using an ENB you will get a colorful, well-lit, atmospheric and immersive Skyrim with sunsets in red and light pink tones that you wanne cry, but you might watch jaggies, although they might be tiny.

@Baibaihe thanks for the tip on DoF, really gonna try it out when i selected an ENB. Liked the one i tried, just the blur thing was bothering me.

I really would recommend Project Enb since you are already using CoT. It won't kill your performance at all and if you turn off SSAO, DoF, or both, you'll hardly notice a difference on ANY enb.

That is the one i did try, was looking very nice and thanks to BaiBaihe i'm now aware how to "eliminate" the negative point i had with it. So really thinking about trying it out again.

@firemanaf This FXAA is interesting, I very much liked your screens and was wondering if you can find that FXAA Injector on the Nexus and if you could give me some pointers on the settings you took?

@Sigurd44: i'm having a 17" screen on a 1920 x 1080

To everybody who has contributed to this topic, thank you for you patience and help! Really appreciate it all and when i finally decide on a ENB or FXAA i will post a few screenies here to show you what i got in the end :)

Ok so after researching more on ENBs and how to change settings to play better. I went with Project ENB+CoT+RLO. With SSAO off and DOF off I can usually sit around 30-40FPS. I downloaded a mod that allows to me to turn on SSAO and DOF in game when taking screenshots. But I do see a better difference now from what I had set with FXAA Injector. I had so much saturation thinking it made it look better. But now using a ENB that works for my computer I see a better quality color and depth. I have been converted...lol Here is some Screenshots. Also I could disable skylighting and that increased my FPS about 5-10 depending in what area I was at. But I like the skylighting so I kept enabled.
