Tarva759
I'm making a ghetto on-touch "shove" spell, and I can't figure out how to turn off the light fx that happen when you cast. Can anyone enlighten me? Edited October 27, 2021 by Tarva759
Pellape
Double click the spell and then double click the Spell Effect. Well it seems we cannot change the visual effect this way. The only way I know right now is to make a scripted spell, so add the spell effect you want and add another spell effect, and make number 2 scripted and choose the effect from it. I do not know if the spell will show both effects or just the one from your empty scripted spell, but test it anyway. It might work and be the way to fool Oblivion... To be sure the effect works, set the duration to 1 as spells with it set to 0 will not fire of at all. You can also edit the Light effect, but then all light effects will become edited. Edited October 23, 2021 by Pellape
Tarva759
That's actually the same set up I have. Dam Fatigue On Self with a scripted Push that has no visual effect. Though when I cast my spell the room still lights up for a second. Would it be possible to edit the light effect of just my scripted spell, or is that something that would affect all of them? Since vanilla on-touch casting looks like you're reaching your hand out, I was hoping to make something that looks like a bash, but the light effect really throws it off. qwertyasdfgh
With the exception of scripted effects, light is defined per-magic effect, not per-spell. In your case, you'd need to remove the light from 'Damage Fatigue' base effect. Alternatively, get rid of damage fatigue and leave your spell with just the script effect. Tarva759
It's still doing it. I don't mean the blue swirls or glowing hand spells do, but the white light that comes with casting. RomanR
Scripted effect is same as another ones, to disable its casting light, you must also edit "SEFF" effect under "Magic Effects" menu. Regarding touch animation there is no easy way to change this, not in vanilla at least.
Tarva759
Thank you, that did the trick. I'm happy with this, but is there a way for it to affect just one spell while the rest keep the light effect?
RomanR
By default no. But in my opinion it doesn't matter much in case of this effect. This effect is often used to be cast by activators and they are often edited to cast their spells without sound or visual effects.
Tarva759
Can I pick your brain one more time? I hadn't noticed before, but Dam Fatigue on self causes the camera to shudder. Is there something I can insert into my script to do it instead?
qwertyasdfgh
Do you mean trigger the camera shake effect from script? TriggerHitShaderOr do you want to damage fatigue from script? In that case, ModAV2
