Is it possible to install texture mods on Skyrim SE on Game Pass?

Well I've finally gotten Vortex to work and have installed the Unofficial Patch and Alternate Start through it so hooray! However, I have a new problem: I installed the Static Mesh Improvement Mod but when I go into the game there are no changes and the textures are still all vanilla? Any ideas anyone? It looks to me like texture mods aren't possible on the Game Pass version of Skyrim SE which would be a massive shame

Yes they Are.

Did you

1. INSTALL

2. ENABLE

3. DEPLOY

the mods?

I just can't get SMIM to work. I've installed it, enabled it and deployed it but nothing has changed in game  Should I change from Hardlink Deployment to Move Deployment maybe?

NO!!!! Hardlink Deployment is the Proper Deployment method.

Does the installation menu for the mod show up when you install it?

You should get a ton of Install Options

Ok I'll keep it on Hardlink Deployment then lol and yes the installation menu comes up when I install it and the choices are: "everything", "lite", "very lite" and "custom". I clicked the "everything" option before was that the wrong one?

So I've tried other texture mods and I get the same result as with SMIM- I don't think texture mods work at all through Vortex for the Game Pass version of Skyrim SE. SMIM does however work if you download it from the Skyrim main menu official mods section so there is obviously some sort of compatibility issue between Vortex and Game Pass Skyrim SE when it comes to texture/mesh files as mods with a simple esp and no texture changes such as Alternate Start work fine. If anyone can manage to get texture mods to work for Skyrim on Game Pass through Vortex then please let me know and give me a detailed description of how you did it. But for now, I am pretty sick of trying to get Vortex to mod Game Pass Skyrim!

Same boat here... using nexus or not textures are not working with the skyrim latest version of game pass... for me. I can see all the textures and files in the right folders inside of \Program Files\ModifiableWindowsApps\Skyrim Special Edition (PC)\Data\textures but they simply won't load/work. Take for instance the Noble Skyrim MOD that changes a lot of the textures for Whiterun - having texture files there in the folder \Program Files\ModifiableWindowsApps\Skyrim Special Edition (PC)\Data\textures\architecture\whiterun\ makes absolutely no difference. Tried through Nexus by installing/enabling/deploying and/or manually copying the textures... NO DIFFERENCE.

I don't think the gamepass version is loading individual meshes and textures unless they are packed in a BSA file. I have installed some mods that are packed in a BSA file with the proper ESP plugin and it loads correctly. However all mods that have a ESP file but the meshes and textures are loose files inside the data folder don't seem to be working.

Well done for finding a solution I was then about to give up on modding Game Pass Skyrim! Will now try out your fix

Edit: just edited my ini and voila- texture mods are now working on my game! Thank you so much for finding a solution to this- Game Pass has just gotten a whole lot better!
