polloio
Hello guys,I see with pleasure that still a lot of people like to play New Vegas. I love the game and I love the mods that nexus share, but I never found much DLC-like mod, or mods that add new areas and quests and related new stuff. I don't know how to make a mod or play with GECK, but I continuely write stories that could successfully become, in my opinion, little DLC mods.So today I was thinking about this and I got an idea: If I cannot build a mod by myself I'll try to get some help from interested community memebers. It is intended to be a mod with a main quest line with radiant choices, new enemies (mostly humans), new armors and weapons and his own locations out of the standard map (obviously I hope to make a map of the mod area) and voiced characters. The history of the mod is almost complete and I'm thinking on for the dialoges and the mechanics of the history to make it fluent like a normal DLC.If you are interested in knowing more and maybe even interested in helping me, comment and support this project, which I hope will become more then a simple idea in my mind.If asked by the community I'll release more details about the mod's history and features.Polloiop.s: I'm new to the forum so I don't know if this is the right place to open such a post, If I made a mistake excuse me. Guest deleted2159825
I never found much DLC-like mod, or mods that add new areas and quests and related new stuff. That's actually a strong point of New Vegas Nexus:- Beyond Boulder Dome (If that's not DLC-scale, then nothing is)- DEIMOS- Tales from the Burning Sands- Strangers Abroad- The New Bison Steve Hotel- New Vegas Bounties There are others I failed to mention, but the point is that our little corner of the Nexus stacks up pretty well in the quest department, if I may say so. ;)
polloio
Thanks for showing me those mods, but still I think that is quite a little number seen the possibility of modding given by the game. They're all beautyful mods, without any doubt.....but they're still few.Still the point is: I have an idea different from them all but I need serious help to make it real.So would "you" like to give me a handwith the practical part?By the way thanks for the answer someguy ;)
gunslinger6792
The amount of effort and time it takes to make a "DLC" like mod is immense and I think you're under estimating just how much work it truly is. They might be few in number but thats what we got. Fallout never attracted the number of modders that oblivion or skyrim did and as such the number or large quests mods are fewer. Thats not to say that the quest mods we do have aren't top notch believe me they are.
polloio
I know gunslinger, I repeat that I do not want to criticize the mods on the nexus or ridiculize the time and the effforts of modders, because I'm also a mod fanatic and I like to try lots of mods be them weapons, armors or anything else And if those awesome mods exist is thank to the people who worked hard on them. My main objective here is to try to find someone interested in helping me because I know that even trying I will not reach my goal of realizing this mod alone. That's all, my story and location for the mod is ready and I only need someone to help me translate the things written on paper in a real playable mod.....I'm not forcing anyone to come here and begin to work for me, I only want to find someone who could collaborate in a similar kind of project. And I'm conscious is not an easy work and it will take time, and that's why I wanna see if people may be intrested in this mod before beginning such a titanical thing :)
nivea
Well just keep in mind its a lot of work and will take many months or even years of work, if you are willing to learn and put the work into it yourself included then you might get someone to help you.But you should know that these kinds of projects almost never get off the ground because your not giving ANY information on what your idea actually is, you just say it will have a ton of stuff and work. You are MUCH more likely to get people working and interested with your mod by providing a detailed layout of what your mod is, what you plan on doing yourself and what you need help with. Since your the writer even a small sampling of your writing and dialog would be a good idea since that is what your bringing to the mod. The more professional the setup of your request and the more information you can give the much more likely it is that many people will be want to come and join up with you, it shows you have talent and you have a good solid plan for others to easily follow. dangman4ever
You should be thinking about doing a few smaller mods so that you can get familiar with FNV modding and the GECK. Especially if you have never modded using the GECK before. With DLC type projects, very rarely are there people on the team who only have a single role and isn't involved with using the GECK at all. So while you're looking for this team and coming with with clear and solid proposal, start using the GECK now. There's numerous guides on the internet to help you start out. polloio
Ok so here comes more details about this mod, it is called "From Ancient Times" and will be a mod centered on the Caesar's Legion....but not the normal one that we know. Here's a brief description of the mod:The story is about a Centurion that, in Flagstaff, found a really strange book in the ruins of the Departement Of Philosophy that tells the story of a very ancient man, well known at his times, and of his way of thinking and his beliefs. Facinated but fearful for getting found in possession of that book by other legionaries and punished, he bega to read the book in secrecy and to apprehend the doctrines of that strange man named Pythagoras. The radication of pythagorean mentality quickly took place in his head giving him an idea like no other: found a perfect city based on the pythagorean-sect way of life.So now, along the infamous Interstate 40, between the rocks stormed by the raging sands of the Arizona, lies the city of Deca, the City of Numbers.Take your chance to uncover long forgotten knowledge and discover how much the past can influence the future. The name could change if I get a better idea or you suggest me a better name.By the way it will be set on a little place of the I-40 and then in the city of Deca and other places in the city and outside the city (or even other small cities) and will see a sort of a greek-exoterical version of the Legion as main characters and all of the possible things that can happen when a Centurion tries to build a utopyan city using the old Caesar's canonical ways merged with doctrine of Pythagoras. That's all in brief :)
polloio
The features I'm planning will be: - 3 cities in three separated areas, or better 2 cities but one divided in two main areas- 2 open world areas, one semi open ( and another (the main one) enclosed in a canyon like terrain. All the areas apart from the cities and unerground locations will be scourged by violent sandstorms.- Map marker in FNV map with the location of the begin of the history- Encounter trigger for the mission when reaching level 20 (I don't want it to be an early playable mod)- Original characters (at least 30 char's)- Armors and weapons derived from the ones that the legion has with some modifies, and at least a pair of unique armors and still a few of unique objects- Voice acting for the few speaking characters, they won't be many because of particular story details (I'll better explain next)- 3 slides: 1 for the beginning and 2 for the endings- Post Story effects, or better the changes occurring after ending the storySaid that, I'll be really happy to hear your questions about the story behind the mod or the setting and even to recieve suggestions like the ones you wrote before. I really appreciate the help you're giving me and I hope to bring this project to life and to work hard with other people willing to do so. Thanks to all ;)
