Skyrim SKSE won't load the data page

So I'm trying to sort this out for a buddy. I've successfully set it up myself on the normal edition. When he tries to open SKSE, it skips through the very first page that has the data and graphics settings where I would make sure my load order is accurate. We moved the skse file and pex files into the skyrim se folder, but whether we open it through the regular launcher or the SKSE launcher in the game file it won't give the data page to actually turn the mods on or change the load order. The only "mods" options we get are the bethesda ones. We also went in game and made sure the mods didnt load by themselves in background either.

SKSE mods use DLLs and not ESPS.

You will only get the Data option if you launch the game thru Steam. If you launch the game with the skse64 launcher it will go straight to a menu giving you options, the only one which concern mods is, I believe, about Bethesda mods.

 

From your post I am going to assume you are not using a mod manager. If you are using mods from Nexus this is a very bad idea unless you are a experienced modder and understand how to install mods manually.

 

If you are not using a mod manager and want to use mods from Nexus there are a few mod managers to choose from. I would recommend Vortex, mainly because it is maintained and updated by Nexus but also, and most important in my opinion, it has a dedicated forum on Nexus where you can get expert advice on any questions you have on installation and running Vortex.

 

Regardless of what mod manager you choose I strongly recommend you use one.
