Rennn
I liked both Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2. The developers are talking about making Dragon Age Inquisition a sort of blend between them, so I'm happy (if they live up to it). Aye, plus they're using either the Frostbite 2 or Frostbite 3 engine. I forget which one. Either way it's worlds ahead of their old engine, which they've been porting forward since Neverwinter Nights 2. According to Bioware interviews, they've gotten more done, faster, with fewer bugs than they ever have before.
billyro
Frostbite 3. The gameplay snippets they showed look tremendous. I can't wait. :)
hector530
Bioware kinda set themselves up for disappointment by one of the devs saying it was the best looking game ever. Holding the new gameinformer, it's not. I can't get excited for da3 Micro transactions and the stupid bioware points ruin it. hoofhearted4
Also namco is teasing a live action trailer for Dark Souls that successfully pissed off the fan basethats because Dark Souls fans are freaking idiots. "OMG i hope they dont change the music to metal music" was a comment i saw like 100 times. and "just give us gameplay videos, not stuff geared to CoD kiddies" also "i hope they dont turn the game into an action game blah blah" my god, it was a teaser. some people thought it was Man at Arms, in which case it would be pretty cool. but all these Dark Souls fans who think they are gaming's Elite because they play the "hardest game on console" are so annoying. from a 30 second trailer, they think their precious game is going to be turned into an Action game gear to CoD kiddies with Metal instead of Dark Souls music. they need to get of their pretentious high horse and realize it was just a little trailer. i am absolutely sick of Dark Souls fans. there were people who played Demons Souls who were like this yes, but from the section of the community i dealt with (which was probably the largest Demons Souls community at the time, and of which i was a very prominent user) most Demons Souls players actually encouraged new players, spread the word of Demons Souls, etc. all i get from the majority of Dark Souls community is "stay away from OUR game noob" "we dont need CoD kiddies (and etc, i know i use CoD kiddies a lot lol) hogging up our game and ruining it" and etc. i know this isnt everyone, but it seems to be the vast majority i deal with. i once stated my dislike of the patch the fixed the Bottomless Box Glitch on and EpicNameBro video, and got literally like 20+ hate replies saying i was a noob if i needed that glitch and how i shouldnt even be playing the game, or watching ENB's videos because i was a worthless CoD noob (actually got called that) among other comments. anyways, i could go on, but ill end my rant here. billyro
Bioware kinda set themselves up for disappointment by one of the devs saying it was the best looking game ever. If it looks as good as the footage they've shown us everywhere, I'm happy. Also, my opinion is that a majority of hardcore Dark Souls fans are masochists. I'm not looking forward to Dark Souls 2 because I get angry enough at Dark Souls 1.
hoofhearted4
i didnt get into Demons Souls originally because i thought it was hard. i got into it because it was an RPG, had good reviews, looked different then most other RPGs, had great customization, and let you do whatever you wanted with your character. yes it was hard. but that wasnt even what drew me to the game. it was the Role Playing Aspect of the game, i love just making a toon, outfitting it thematically, and beating the game (which i can do without dieing a single death in Demons Souls) i got into Dark Souls for the same reason. plus it was the spiritual successor to one of my favorite games of all time. however, i dont like Dark Souls half as much as i liked Demons Souls. and i havent beaten the game a fraction of the amount of times ive beaten Demons Souls (literally about 50+ times vs like 6 or 7 times) Dark Souls is hard yes, but it was the RPG aspect again that drew me in. now the thing that made Demons Souls a game i could Role Play over and over countless times was actually a glitch. the Thomas Dupe Glitch. you could dupe any items 198 times (99 in your inventory, 99 with Thomas) only took a second too. this meant when i got the weapon i needed, i could get a couple of stones and fully upgrade my weapon. i could dupe souls to make sure i had the stats for the equipment. this meant i could focus more on the Role Play, and less on the grinding for items, or the difficulty of the game. and the layout of Demons Souls also made it easy. was the weapon/armor/item i wanted in 5-2? well i could go directly to world 5 and go through it to get to my weapons, wherever my items were, i could get to them reasonably fast. in contrast, Dark Souls doesnt have this. since its a linear game, i cant get weapons i need right off. if my weapons come in Anor Londo, or Dukes Archives or what have you. i HAVE to play through 1/2 to 2/3 of the game before i can even start Role Playing. this becomes a huge drag. i like the game, but not where i want to do the same areas, in the same order, doing the same thing every time, with the same weapons (before i get the items i need for my Role Play) however, a glitch solved this. the Bottemless Box Glitch. all items on another character could be transported to a new character. this was great, since i platinumed the game already, and one of my toons had most items in the game, and i had gone through to stockpile up on Humanity and Boss Souls (for weapons, or early levels) all was well in good in Dark Souls. i was able to think of a thematic toon and play them, getting the items i needed extremely early and easily, allowing me to Role Play as i had in Demons Souls. but alas, From/Namco patched this glitch (which they had never patched anything in Demons Souls, which was From/Atlas). ive stated my dislike of this before here and elsewhere, this is what i posted on that YouTube video that i mentioned, only to be met with harsh criticism for being a noob and not even deserving to play the game or be apart of the community (which i wasnt anyways lol) because i was a no good cheater and griefer (even though i dont PvP, though if you play Dark Souls, you MUST play it specifically for PvP.....) so basically, the reason i got into the Souls Series, which was to enjoy the RP part of the RPG, is apparently frowned upon, and since the update, is made extremely hard to do. i keep my eye open to Dark Souls 2 to see if maybe they will implement something for new toons, for people who have beaten the game or what have you (a feature many of us Demons Souls originals were hoping for in Dark Souls) i do not expect it to be there. but i hope. without a feature to help people like me build new toons for RP purposes (or friendly PvP purposes, as was the case for the majority of Demons Souls players) i am not that interested in Dark Souls 2. its just another game, which calls itself an RPG, because there is leveling, customization, and etc, and yet doesnt make it RP friendly. will i still get DkS2? probably. the game play of the Souls series is fun and unique to it. i do enjoy it, and i do enjoy the story. all that said, i also wish they would do a Demons Souls 2. not because it would mean i would be able to RP again like i did in the original (all theyd have to do is patch that game as well, Demons Souls was fun because it wasnt patched, not because it was intended in the original game) but because it was the original, what drew me in, and it holds a very special place in my heart. i would love to revisit the world of Boletaria, and see all my NPC friends again, or see a prequel that led to those events or something. just more of the world would be amazing
billyro
What annoys me is that some of the hardcore Souls fans are absolutely horrified at the notion of having an "easy mode". I don't understand it: having an easy mod broadens the game's potential market and is optional, and yet people still cry out in anger at the mention of it. If Dark Souls 2 had an easy mode, I'd happily buy it, but right now I'm not. Like you said, it's the role playing aspect of the games that are entertaining, not the frustration and grinding involved in levelling up. An easy mode would allow people to roleplay a lot easier... but no, easy mode is evil of course. I haven't played Demon Souls so I don't know about the glitches, but this is something that could make the game enjoyable for much more people. The more people that buy the game = more money for next Dark Souls games. Why don't some people understand that? :(
hoofhearted4
i gotta say, ive been playing Dark Souls for the past week or so. and now im bored with it already. i never ever can bring myself to finish the game. its just sooo linear and boringggg. also, something very aggravating. i was just in New Londo Ruins. i dont usually have a hard time with that place at all, once i go there decently equipped. this time didnt seem to be any different. got through the first small area, and throught he very first fog gate. went over the bridge where the ghosts attack from below, and went into the room where there are several ghosts. now usually i get spurts of ghosts. ive been through this area several times and it would be lole two or thre ghosts attack me in one room, then another couple in the next room, etc. well i went in this time, just stepped in waiting for them, because i knew, and i somehow aggroed all of them. roughly 10-12 ghosts began attacking me all at once, from all sides. wasnt much i could do. im using a large club, which swings very slow, and its easy to interrupt. so i died, went back tried again. same thing. all 10 ghosts at once. locked on to a ghost that was behind me in a wall, leaving my back open to the other 9 ghosts. died very fast. i only had one translucent curse left so i went to try again. this time when i went over the bridge with the ghosts underneath, they attacked but wouldnt pop up. i would run back and forth over the bridge without a response besides that first attack. nothing. so i ran down the stairs and looked at the bottom of the bridge to see if they were floating there being stupid AI. nope nothing. not coming after me, just not there. well i go to enter the room, and the attack me from behind, blocking the exit as the 10 ghosts slaughter me again. translucent curses cost 4000 a pop, and i really didnt feel like farming 4000 souls. which i could have done since i have the Darkroot shortcut open, but yea. normally the ghosts drop plenty of TC for me, but not one had dropped one this playthrough. needless to say im taking a break from Dark Souls for now. if not done with it for now. as i said, i dont usually make it through the entire game. once i get to Anor Londo im usually extremely bored with the game as i think Anor Londo is an extremely boring place. i usually try and beat everything i can before i go there because it and the Archives feel so tacked on. but ho hum. here i go on again ranting about Dark Souls lol. all this said, i was looking at the game play trailer and breakdowns of it and stuff, and i am sort of looking forward to Dark Souls 2, which isnt next gen despite its 2014 release date. as much as i dislike Dark Souls because its actually horrible at the RP aspect of RPG, or rather helping you do the RP aspec (if your willing to grind and stuff, you can really do some fun Roleplaying. its just getting to that point thats a real drag) and as such multiple play throughs feel like a drag (as ive mentioned all this before), that initial play through and NG+ really is a blast. my heart really does race at points. plus i love going back to my first character and look at what i thought was good. first character always consists of the biggest shield, armor and a horrible placement of stats. also is usually a Faith based Character because the regen/healing is awesome for your first few times through. plus ive platinumed Demons Souls and Dark Souls, so i guess i gotta continue the trend with Dark Souls 2 lol. hoofhearted4
ok, my last off topic post about Demons/Dark souls. did a little bit or curious reading. it seems, for the most part in large, those who played Demons Souls first preferred Demons to Dark, basically like 90% of the posts i read, agreed with this. for those who played Dark first, it was probably 60/40 in favor of Dark. so for the most part it seems, the Dark community i hate are those who have only really ever played Dark or played Dark first. honestly, that makes me feel better lol.
