DontWorryBeHappy
I'll probably get it anyway, if its even half as good as the comic I will love it.
PureSnipe
Seems people that loved the comics and books were the ones that liked it.
Vagrant0
Em, it's just nudity folks, get over it. Personally, I find the male body totally repulsive, and have already explained that I change clothes in the dark, and take a shower with a blindfold and gloves because I dislike the concept of seeing any male nude, or partially nude, despite whatever reasons might be involved. How anyone can see anything appealing in a bulbous, hairy, dirty, grotesque form is beyond me. But that's just me, and entirely beyond the point. Michlo, it's one thing to defend your lifestyle or views when they are being infringed upon or taken in a hostile way. It's another to impress those views on others, and assume that the views you have are normal, and what everyone else should believe. You don't like it when people do it to you, why is it ok for you to do it to others? He made no remarks about how the movie was gay, or a "homosexual freak fest". All he said was that there was male nudity which he was not particularly thrilled about seeing. Just because someone may be against homosexuals being able to use the word "marriage" does not make them intolerant, homophobic, or unsympathetic to those who walk that path. Getting back on the topic, atleast it made sense from the storyline given that characters origins. You can't really expect it to be practical for them to wear a full body costume when their whole body glows, and it's not like the character is running around and shaking his junk around half the time or being otherwise obscene (in the opinion of most audiences)... It'll be up to the porno version for that.
Palpenious
I have to wholly agree with Vagrant0, which is not surprising, I have no interest in seeing anyone's member in a superhero/action movie, or what have you. That said, if the movie is all-around good, which I hear it is, then I'm not going to walk out on it just because of that. A friend of mine saw the movie today, and the first thing he told me was, "It was good, but there's a lot of wang in it." I had to laugh because I just read this post last night, and am still surprised that this is the biggest topic about it. Exlosions? Vietnam? No, let's talk about penises! Or is it Peni? At any rate it reminded me of 300, which does have male nudity, and some female nudity. But I thought it was a good movie, not due to it inclusion or lack of such. In short I plan on seeing Watchmen because of positive feedback on everything but naked guys, I'll just cover my eyes at the scary parts.
roquefort
Had the book for ages, and am looking forward very much to seeing the film. Is it Dr Manhattan's naked bod that's raising some eyebrows here? I guess it must be. Are Americans aware that over here in the old country Rugby (like football but without the wussy padding and space-helmets) players all jump starkers into a big bath together after a match and sing songs? Don't call them gay though (not to their face at any rate :)) BTW the plural of `penis' is `penes'
LHammonds
Michlo, please stop looking for homophobia attack possibilities. There was no reason for your post (and don't try to fight me on this). My knowledge of his homophobia was not based on this post at all but his prior post in the Propsition 8 thread. Short memories here or what? There was no need for him to come here and go on about male nudity, I'm sure he wouldn't have complained about female nudity.I'm sure this will be of no surprise. Strike #1 issued to Michlo. Anyone else that tries to pick up the "torch" and reply to prior off-topic comments will also be awarded a strike...possibly even two strikes since that would mean my warnings (in bright yellow) have fallen of deaf ears (or is that blind eyes?). Michlo
I apologize. I was in the midst of being apalled, upset, disgusted, etc. at what appears to be happening with the California Supreme Court right now and it obviously clouded my judgment here. And I shall bite my tongue (fingers?) so as not to respond to the worrying parts of Vagrant's post. End of.
AzirAphale001
When it comes out on DVD I'll be buying it (probably a week or two afterwards as I don't like paying too much for DVD's). I don't even know what it's about, but the advert looks good.
DracoRazgriz
Off Topic> What does it matter if there's male or female Nudity in a Movie.......It's still Nudity, and as such shouldn't be seen by Minors....at least without the consent of said minors parents. Off Topic 2> Azir I'm not exactly sure where you live but In the US Most DVD's are cheaper on the First 2 Days of their release as that increases their Initial Release Profit Sales......another way to go is by Pre-Ordering DVD's...that is also cheaper, Depending on how well the Movie Sells on DVD the price for it may stay at it's standard price or go down over the next few months. On Topic> The Nudity Factor not withstanding Watchmen is one of the Movies on my To See List although I don't have the money to spare to go see it in theaters right now, I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD......I'll probably go see it through Netflix first before I judge whether or not I want to buy it. ~ Raz
genovauk
I watched this last night and loved the movie, didn't know it was such a long film but the storyline was good, as far as male nudity goes in the movie, to be honest I didn't even notice it and my girlfriend watched it with me and she usually picks up on stuff like that (male or otherwise). I didn't think there was that much in it at all compared to the length of it. my point is if you want to see the movie then don't let a bit of nudity get in the way, And in my opinion if you are watching the film properly, following the story, watching some of the cool effects, then most likely you aren't going to notice it that much. You tend to pay attention more to what you think are bad aspects of the movie if you aren't really enjoying it, Or you are comparing it it to a book, comic, play. These are all different types of medium all of which can tell the same story but at the same time they can't really tell it the same way, a book for instance may not appear to have any description of nudity much past character building near the beginning but if you think about it if a book says the character doesnt hardly wear any clothing due to the fact he doesn't really need to, then why should the movie adaption make the character put any on. Plus the mainly naked guy in the film always wore clothing in public even if it was some kind of loin cloth thing, he was only nude in his own privacy or around the characters that obviously didnt mind. Bear in mind thas as much as this is a good movie is quite long and those who kinda have a low attention span when it comes to watching a movie thats more story based than action based are going to struggle and see all of nudity and such else that makes people think movies suck.
