If I install high-level texture mods in Skyrim

a texture mod will improve textures, but even those new texture will look better if your settings are set on higher detail.

But beware that textures can cause skyrims limited 3.1GB to be reached much quicker, which can cause CTD and infinite loading screens to happen more often, so watch your game loading stress.

If you are going to use ENBootst I suggest using it with a SweetFX mod, with the proper proxy settings, this is for ENB-ish game effects at a tiny fraction of the FPS cost.

Also, I suggest sticking to 1k~ish textures, 2k-4k textures can be very taxing.

lastly I suggest using High instead of Ultra settings, I started doing this recently, and noticed very minimal visual change, yet gained about 5-10 FPS in some of my laggier spots.

I've got the 2K texture pack installed, some other 2k texture mods and the lush trees and grass mod installed, and the biggest difference I've noticed between this and the vanilla textures are the load times. Basically, they're a lot longer now.

Also experience the odd CTD and a strange stutter/pause every couple of seconds, which I didn't have before. I forgot to add I'm running the game on Ultra settings, same as before.

I'm also using ENB bosst which to be honest I can't say makes much difference.

I have reasonably beefy rig but the mods do take their toll. Unless you've got a real high-end system, I suggest sticking to 1k textures.
