Doeetfgt
Hello Nexus! I have recently went back to playing Oblivion after countless hours of Skyrim, and I went on a nice little modding spree, namely overhauls and my old beloved mods, and my game ran very well, without any crash or corruption. Afterwards I decided to add a few mods to my game, and this is when stuff gets terrible : I don't get the traditional CTD after the bethesda logo. I can access the main menu, the options, the launcher very well, but as soon as I attempt loading something (be it a save or a brand new game), I crash or freeze at the loading screen. Sometimes I'm able to alt-tab out of the game, sometimes I get stuck there seemingly forever. I tried deleting the newer mods, the ones that apparently caused the crashing and freezing, to no avail. I highly suspect Alternate Start Arrive by Boat to be the source of the issue, I've had many problems with this mod before, but it could also be my struggle to install DarNUI.Here is my complete load order, without the newer mods, when the game worked well. Oblivion 1.2.416 (newest patch)OBSE newest version Oblivion.esmCM Partners.esmDLCShiveringIsles.espDLCHorseArmor.espKnights.espTharantiel_Deer_Mounts.espSalazarianGear.espSkeletalShadowmare.espSummon Skeleton Horse.espTallhelmArmor.espTyraelArmor.espIronMaidenset.espCazyHairs.espCapesandCloaks.espDiabloarmor2.espMaleBodyReplacerV5.espCustom SE power summons.espSummonable Gatekeeper.espOblivion_Character_Overhaul.espRen_BeautyPack_onlyhairs.espPhinix_master_summons.espCMPartners Marker NPCS.esp[other various CMpartner packs]Immersive Weapons.espNote to Self.espCMPartners.espnewdremora.espThe Complete Dremora.espOblivionXP.espPHVanillaEyesAddon.esp I highly doubt the problem emerges from any of these mods seeing as the game ran smoothly beforehand, but it may conflict with the newest mods. I then attempted to install DarNified UI through OMM, closely following the instructions given on the forum, and replacing the necessary OblivionXP files, but I didn't test the game at that point. The menu and loading screens show the DarNUI fonts and layouts. New possibly conflicting mods : Loading Screens Themed Replacers (original and SI).Alternative Start Arrive by ShipMidas Magic (may also be the cause, even tho I had the patch)ChaseCameraModKafei's Better Ring/Amulet replacers (I doubt this mod is the source)Daedric Lord ArmorStop Dark BrotherhoodXifs Separated DB armorVampire Aesthetics (Circs)LTD-Vamp overhaul I supposed those two last could have conflicted, but then again, I uninstalled all of the above mods and looked for leftover files, and my game still crashes on load. I would love to be able to continue my wonderful and much too quick Olblivion experience. I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance! ♥
Hickory
but it could also be my struggle to install DarNUI. I'm guessing that it's this, maybe alone or combined with loading screens... maybe. But if I were you, I would completely remove DarN UI and OblivionXP, and make sure that nothing is left over from the install (remove completely any \Data\Menus\*.xml files that might remain). Do this at the very least. Do not load a saved game, but start a new one right from character creation for the purposes of troubleshooting. If you still have issues, post here a proper load order taken from within Wrye Bash, because it contains crucial troubleshooting info.
Doeetfgt
Thank you dearly for your help!I can't believe I didn't find this conflict by myself. I deleted all traces of DarNUI and OblivionXP, and now my game runs as smoothly as it used to. I'll still see if I can manage installing DarN, since honestly the console interface is a pain. Thank you so much! gosh i feel kinda dumb now
Hickory
No, don't feel like that, it happens to us all... really! :)
Gracinfields
Your issue is DarnUI as you seemed to forget something in the INI file. I have done this before by accident. I do believe you missing these lines in the font section of the Oblivion.ini in the documents directory, Oblivion Directory, as well as the Oblivion_Default.ini file in the Oblivion Directory. Also comment out the original font lines with a semi colon ";" sfontfile_1=Data\Fonts\DarN_Ringbearer_22.fntsfontfile_2=Data\Fonts\DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock_14.fntsfontfile_3=Data\Fonts\DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock_18.fntsfontfile_4=Data\Fonts\DarN_Oblivion_28.fntSFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt
Doeetfgt
It's alright, everything works now! I deleted XP and DarN and then correctly reinstalled them with OMOD (instead of my lame manual XP installation) and now the game works fine, my saves are clean, everyone is pretty and happy! ♥Thanks peeps! I do believe you missing these lines in the font section of the Oblivion.ini in the documents directory, Oblivion Directory, as well as the Oblivion_Default.ini file those were not the problem, the fonts were neatly installed and in fact remained in my game even after deletion of DarN. Neat lil fonts Edited August 16, 2013 by Doeetfgt
Hickory
I do believe you missing these lines in the font section of the Oblivion.ini in the documents directory, Oblivion Directory, as well as the Oblivion_Default.ini file in the Oblivion Directory.Oblivion_Default.ini should never, ever be edited. It is the installation default that Oblivion falls back on to re-create Oblivion.ini in the event that it needs to. Again, it should never be edited. Gracinfields
I always make back up copies of any file I edit, so nothing is lost. But the main reason is due to the Default.ini file over write my oblivion.ini files before so I made the changes there as well. Thus if that issue ever occurs again it won't cause hair pulling issues while checking though all that I have done between the issue and last time I played with out fault.
