Thor.
Pushing the ps3 is joke when you don't use its native resolution on both consoles, the ps3's native resolution is 1080p, the real game that pushed the console to its Limit was Metal gear 4, but what about the 360. Again the dilemma is that the console differences, they are to different. Pushing the ps3 would be using all of its blu ray space and capable resolution, again this seems biased but its not when considering Metal gear 4, that game really pushed the ps3 to its limit. Gta v will require a 8gb install for both consoles, which will be mandatory, http://www.gamespot.com/news/gtav-pushes-xbox-360-ps3-to-the-limits-says-rockstar-6413030 and the article stating its not 1080P http://playeressence.com/gta-5-will-not-run-in-native-1080p-resolution-on-ps3-and-360/ Metal gear really was the game that pushed the ps3 to its limit, it was in Dolby and not to mention the High resolution textures that pushed blu ray to its limit, the game was over 50gb's in size. lol this proves it  http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/02/kojima-mgs4-too-big-for-50-gb-blu-ray-disc/Again i bet though the graphics will still be stunning, but they could of made two version if they really wanted to push both consoles to there ultimate maximum limit. Kojima upset about gtav could be completely wrong with this news http://www.autoomobile.com/news/watch-dogs-gta-5-ps4-download/10016604/ :woot: Wait for the ps4 version they claim that it will possibly using a 150gb blu ray disk. Also possible 1tb blu ray disk in the works, i can see games be nearly be impossible to port to pc in the future lol, or we may have to adopt to blu ray. In 2008 Pioneer Corporation launched a Blu-Ray disc that could hold up to 25 GB of date and there is a project on-going to develop a 1 TB Blu-Ray disc. Edited August 16, 2013 by Thor. hoofhearted4
Kojima wasnt upset with GTA5? he was praising it, saying he wishes he could bring MGS(5) to GTA5s level of open world. all i know, is GTA5 may just be the first GTA game i ever buy. ive played some Vice City back when, but never actually PLAYED it ya know? GTA5 looks pretty damn sweet. even as just a game to mess around in like i used to with Vice City.
Thor.
YA gtav will be a next gen buy for me, the things huge though, I wonder how they will bring it over to pc with the size they claim the ps4 version will be. If you have to install it directly to the xbox ones hd that's a lot of space taken. Especially when they are claiming the 50gb wall has been broken, though hopefully with the ps4 we wouldn't have to worry about huge install base. Edited August 16, 2013 by Thor. JimboUK
Consoles don't have native resolutions, it's the displays that do, both the 360 and PS3 can do 1080p but rarely do because they're simply not powerful enough. MGS was 1024x768 BTW. I'm going to wait for the PC version of GTA5, "pushing consoles to the limit" sounds an awful lot like 20 FPS to me, something that's not unusual when anyone tries to push these antique consoles. Thor.
Ya i can see lag issues and micro stuttering at low fps online, and awful screen tearing to boot. The way the ps3 works you can't upscale the image to a artificial 1080P resolution, whatever the game set at is what the max resolution for that game, they need to be able to lock the resolution to the system max potential, Metal gear 4 was in 1080P so why not GTAV Edited August 16, 2013 by Thor. JimboUK
Metal Gear 4 was sub 720p http://beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1113342&postcount=2 The PS3 just doesn't have the memory to do much at 1080p, it only has 256MB of VRAM.
Thor.
That's the texture resolutions Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot = 1024x768 (2xAA, temporal), that's pretty good considering its on a console, 1k HD graphics, 2k and so on. If the textures where 512x it would have looked terrible. there hasn't been a game yet with 4k textures or even 1920x1080, even on the most advanced game. It would take up to much space, you must be confusing texture resolution with the actual on screen resolution. Edited August 17, 2013 by Thor. It's the resolution at which the game is displayed, it's nothing to do with textures, whatever gave you that idea?

A few console games are at 1080p, and virtually all PC games can run at 1080p on most hardware. I downsample many of my games from 1440p to 1080p.The PS3 can upscale effectively to 1080p, though obviously it's not real 1080p when it's upscaled. In addition, 720p and 1080p are both fully supported resolutions for the PS3. Real 1080p just doesn't see much use on the consoles because it taxes the PS3's dated hardware too much. The 360 itself can hardly run anything at 1080p, it's so weak it's basically a non-factor at this point. Textures use a completely different scaling system, independent from display resolution. 1024x1024, 2048x2048, 4096x4096, etc. Most console games run at a display resolution of 1280x720 with FXAA or no AA, with a mix of 512 and 1024 textures depending on the size of the mesh. What are you saying? Edited August 18, 2013 by Rennn
Thor.
Well whatever the debate is, the console can have a higher gaming experience then the 360 if you want to call it that. There is no question that the ps3 is superior with its blu ray capabilities and should be treated as such.Technically speaking that's what was slowing innovation the past 10 years. Direct ports to the ps3 didn't always work properly, Skyrim was a good example. They where afraid of Linux and the cell, it had so much potential yet they didn't use its full capabilities when it came to 360 to ps3 ports. One reason why patches and updates and dlc was always last on the ps3, months later. Edited August 18, 2013 by Thor.
