mnordmarc
When I play mods not set in the Mojave, I find myself missing the ranger/riot gear. To remedy this I had the idea of a more urban/policy looking version of the riotarmor, same duster but darker/black and replacing the torn jeans with some sort of leatherpants with shinguards and to top things off, removing the helmet and adding the police hat.Anyone else think that might be a goog look? XTgrndr
I don't think an urban version of the armor would have a duster. A long coat for Tactical Response Operatives would be impractical, as they may trip over it or get it caught on things. You can imagine Edna Mode shouting "No dusters!" here if you like. If they were to wear an overcoat, it'd be a waist length tight fitting leather jacket. Other then that, it sounds like a good idea. The helmet/hat would be a seperate piece, so it would have no overall impact on the whole outfit. It would have to have colors to match the outfit though. Heck ya, I don't see why not. Heck gopher made a mod with a armored bounty hunter duster and that thing is like 3+ years old. The whole duster thing goes great with any armor. I also did a re-texture that I rather liked & you might might as well since it sounds similar to the colors your describing. Pic; http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/elite-dark_zps07798aa2.jpg And don't let the duster's bulky look fool you, they were used by all kinds of outlawas and lawmen in the days of the iron horse. Those guys didn't seem to have much trouble drawing on some of the fastest gunslingers in the west, in a time when speed wasn't just the only thing it was *everything*. It sounds like XTgrndr has an alternate idea of an outfit that he's suggesting, so I'll step back in case you want to work out something along with what he's suggesting. But if you decide to go with your original idea, yeah I can put that together for you assuming your flexible on the time. I have a lot of projects going on. mnordmarc
Looks good :) although i think id prefer a less armored duster.I tried cobbling together some bits to get a feel for the hat/helmet....Lobotomite goggles, Ulysseus mask and the police hat, clipping galore, not a pretty sight :) then i tried it with the outcast ranger helmet from ADAM and the police hat, still serious clipping since i really cant edit models but it looked a lot better. devinpatterson
Looks good  although i think id prefer a less armored duster. That one is the elite riot gear, but it can work on any riot gear from the ranger vet armor on up. Are you trying to rig together a gas mask type look like a WWII trooper thing? The ghost people/OWB hazmat suit, have some nice masks. It's no problem to rig a hat to a helmet, I did it with teh cowboy hat adn the elite riot gear, but you have to do it in blender. I'm guessing when you said clipping galore you were working in nifskope? Anyway here is a pic; http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/EliteDarkHat_zps37d7ccd1.jpg it's even possible to make a special hat model, that doesn't take up a head slot and could be equipped when the helmet is equipped, but uses a normal model when the helmet isn't worn. I havn't done it before but that seems do-able.
mnordmarc
The normal riotgear seems closest to what I had in mind :) I think the pants should have a leatherlook, kinda like a motorcycle police uniform. For the helmet I think to keep it in line with the other riot/ranger armors the best look would be to keep the original gasmask, remove the helmet part and replace it with the police hat. The hat and armor would need a retexture though, to bring the look together since the hat is way too light grey as it is now.
devinpatterson
The normal riotgear seems closest to what I had in mind  I think the pants should have a leatherlook, kinda like a motorcycle police uniform. I think that would be relatively easy, the leather armor has some decent pants. But the downside is that the boots don't match, which may or may not be a problem for you. An alternative is to find another pair with a texture you can bump up the glossiness on to simulate leather. For the helmet I think to keep it in line with the other riot/ranger armors the best look would be to keep the original gasmask, remove the helmet part and replace it with the police hat. If I remember right, the helmet and gas mask are separate vertex groups, so separating them is easy, as is joining it with a police hat. The hat and armor would need a retexture though, to bring the look together since the hat is way too light grey as it is now. Yep probably, so you can keep a coherent theme. Anyway that's most of the basics for XTgrndr to tackle your request. Let me know if he isn't able to, or changes his mind and I'll see if I can fit in a bit of work on it. mnordmarc
I dont think XTgrndr offered to take a crack at this, he offered some ideas, but nothing in the ways of actual "making" :)Id be happy if youd give this a shot.
devinpatterson
Sure, I'll just double check with XTgrndr and if he's not going to I can take a shot at it (although I can't be sure about how soon I can get it done). Any additional details I should be aware of? You will also want to go to this page; New Vegas armor and clothing, and tell me what outfit parts to use as the base. mnordmarc
Elite riot gear pants with the knepads, a darker texture preferably leathery if possible and blackish boots, Desert ranger duster, again darker  and then the police hat/rangermask thingy in sort of the same colorscheme as the duster. Will be an awesomelooking armor i think  I also saw the tunnelsnake jacket with breastplate you made, very nice. That might fit nice as a lighter version, without the snake on the back though :) Edited August 20, 2013 by mnordmarc
