New to Fallout 3 mods; is this initial setup correct?

Hi,

Though I played Fallout 3 to death when it originally came out on X360, I bought the Fallout 3 GOTY edition on Steam during the Summer sale, to play the game again on PC and with mods.

I'm a little overwhelmed by the numbers of mods and apps to get started and I'd appreciate some guidance.

I'm actually going to write an article on getting started with Fallout 3 mods to go on my website, so any help will benefit more than just myself.

Let's see:

1. Installed FOSE (http://fose.silverlock.org/) to my Fallout dir.

2. Installed the Fallout Mod Manager.

3. Ran "ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!" and activated it.

4. Installed FOOK 2 to my Fallout dir.

5. Initially I ran FOSE (fose_loader.exe), went to Data Files and ticked all of the modules I want (virtually all of them), then started the game, but then I realised that I should have ran Fallout Mod Manager first and changed the load order. I played the first 5 minutes of the game then went back and ran the FOMM instead, I presume this is fine. see attached for exact orde.

Is that it? Is there a way to tell that the mods are functional? I guess I'll know by the HD graphics and the content in the wasteland?

Edit: PS - I did see the stickied FAQ with a link to the modding tutorial (http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/articles/article.php?id=43) but the link is not working...?

FOMM has ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! built in. If you downloaded and installed the standalone version, do not use the one in FOMM,

You should try this article: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/652876-fallout-3-modding-and-you/

And this one: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/120735-how-to-install-mods-for-fallout-3/

Since you are just getting started, you should use BOSS: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/10193/ to sort you load order and you should get FO3Edit and the training manual. You will need both.

FO3Edit: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/637/

Training Manual: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/8629/
