pgorbas
I admit I don't know a great deal about mods other then I have been trying to get a steam bought Skrim SE to run with a lot of mods, thinking it would be easier than AE, but for a week have had no luck. I tried disabling All the Mods in MO2, and started enabling them one at a time and testing by running game up to character creation. When it crashed, and it would usually crash by the time the intro cart ride started, I'd disable the last mod I enabled and move to my next one. I went through my list of 40 mods this way and started a game from scratch. No matter what I did next, the game would advance to where the players head is about to be chopped off then the game crashed with no error. At this point even disabling all the mods again didn't help. Even launching from steam and not using the SKBE64 loader still crashed a new game at the beheading screen. In desperation I Uninstalled Skrim SE through Steam, then deleted all the remnants and deleted all the skyrim mods. Then re-installed from steam. The completely unmoded game will get past the beheading scene, but I don't know how to start applying mods again. Do you have any suggestions on how I should start modding Skyrim SE such as order to apply mods? How far into the story do I need to run a game before I know it is not going to crash in the next scene?
IsharaMeradin
The Helgen tutorial on its own is a resource intensive area. It has always been best to wait till at least the hands have been freed (just inside Helgen Keep) or until after exiting the Helgen Cave and Alduin has been seen flying off into the distance. The other option would be to use Alternate Start: Live Another Life. Within the initial cell a player can create their character, wait for mods to initialize and adjust MCM settings as desired all before talking to the statue and going into the game proper. That said, there is no way to know that the game will not crash within the next scene. There is always a risk when using mods that at some point some thing might break. Make lots of saves and occasionally fully exit the game especially when switching between characters as some data does not get fully flushed.
