Accertion
Hey everyone! I have successfully installed the latest version of FWE and installed ENB v0.173. For some odd reason, my FALLOUT.ini cannot be edited or else it will crash my game on startup. Even the slightest change or addition (changing a value from 0 to 1), will cause it to crash. I checked the properties of the ini file, and it's not read-only or hidden. I edited the ini file before with several mods installed (not FWE included), and it worked out fine. My ini file has not been modified at all because I deleted my .ini file so that the game creates a brand new one. And before you think it is my graphics card or computer specs, I did update my graphics card and my computer specs can run FO3 with an ENB at 70+ FPS. Thanks for reading. Hopefully, you have an idea on why my ini file is not editable.
geoflo
Hi, certain vid cards are not compatible with FO3 and yet is excellent with FNV. It pertains to certain Nvidia cards because they cannot be opitimized. So if you have one of those, check the specs of your card to see if it is compatible.another one is the ini tweak is for multicore cpu's and not single. Intel graphics is another cause. there is a patch for that. Just a couple to begin with without knowing exactly what your specs are.Cheers. Accertion
I have a good reason to believe it is FWE because I could edit my FALLOUT.ini until I installed FWE. Here's my computer specs:Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.8GHzGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670Memory: 16384MB RAMDirectX Version: DirectX 11 I checked if my NVIDIA driver needs to be updated, and it is up-to-date. I purchased FO3 GOTY edition a long time ago and it worked on my old computer and my new one.
M48A5
Please see this article for a possible solution to your problem: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1465357-installing-fallout-3-with-windows-78-and-xp/ I also use FWE and I have not had any problem editing the Fallout.ini in the My Games folder. Accertion
I have done all of that, except for the ini changes since my FALLOUT.ini is so unstable. FWE works, the problem is, I want to use DarnUI as well, but if I change the FALLOUT.ini file, it'll cause the game to crash once I launch FOSE or Fallout.exe. M48A5
You have another problem if you cannot make changes to the FALLOUT.ini. I am using FWE and DarNified UI and I have made other edits to the .ini without a problem. Where did you aquire your game and what is the install path? Accertion
Strange.. I restarted my computer and when I made a few tweaks on the .ini file. (iNumHWThreads=2, bInvalidateOlderFiles=1) and suddenly, it started working. But, when I reinstalled DarnUI, and added the new fonts in the ini, it stopped working again -.- Now, I think it's DarnUI. I'm using A11 + Hotfix and then installing the DarnUI support for FWE. To answer your questions, my game is located in my C:\Games\Fallout 3. I purchased FO3 around 2 years ago, a while after Fallout: NV released and I believe I acquired it at GameStop Canada.
M48A5
For the DarNified UI F3, make sure you follow the link on the FWE page. This will take you to the DarNified UI page where you will download Alpha 11. Make sure you get the correct version. If you are installing with FOMM, get the FOMod version. If are trying to use NMM, get the 7z version and install manually. Don't forget the hotfix. That has to be installed manually. I believe you need to install all the FWE files, then the DUIF3 files and hotfix. The best way to install both FWE and DUIF3 is with FOMM. Also, make sure FOSE is installed before FWE and DUIF3. NinjaMan9876
Yeah I'm having the same issue. I'm using FWE and the font is very screwy and doesn't fit well on screen in 1080p. So i tried to install DarnUI and i did but the thing is, i can't edit my fonts section of my FALLOUT.ini folder under C:/documents/my games/fallout 3 from sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_3=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Medium.fntsFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_VeryLarge02_Dialogs2.fntsFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fntsFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_VL_dialogs.fntsFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\Baked-in_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_8=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Futura_Caps_Large.fnt To ;sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_14.fnt;sFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_16.fntsFontFile_3=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Medium.fnt;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_VeryLarge02_Dialogs2.fnt;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_Otl_12.fntsFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_10.fntsFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_VL_dialogs.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_PetitaMedium_Outline_18.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Forgotten_Futurist_Otl_18.fntsFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_13.fnt;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\Baked-in_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Libel_Suit_Otl_24.fnt;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Klill_Outline_20.fntsFontFile_8=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Futura_Caps_Large.fnt Without Crashing to desktop. It says "Fallout 3 has stopped working" about 1 second after you see the very first screen when the game boots up saying "Bethesda". This is very infuriating because i just want play my damn game without the font being stupid. Such a simple fix, such a lot of issues. And the thing is, ive done this before and i know i can get it working because i have done so before. But i've reinstalled windows since then so now i have to do it all again and i just cant figure it out.

First, it is against the Terms of Service (https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras§ion=boardrules ) to necro posts. I believe the time limit is 6 months. The last post here was almost 4 years ago.Your post would not have been seen if someone posted after you. To solve your problem, try removing the unused fonts so that your .ini looks like this: [Fonts]sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_14.fntsFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_16.fntsFontFile_3=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Medium.fntsFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_10.fntsFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fntsFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_13.fntsFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Libel_Suit_Otl_24.fntsFontFile_8=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Futura_Caps_Large.fnt If you installed the game in the default location (Program Files), you will continue to have problems.
