  1. I think the idea would be to recreate Sanctuary as a place of safety and commerce. Walled in and protected. Gone are the days of the pristine place that it was. I think that is what was on the mind of the developers anyway. To grow it and thrive as a community effort and to give shelter. Minutemen objective??
  2. usb mouse wired. No batteries. I have mouse up to BS start.
  3. Hi, Ive reinstalled FO3 and the dlc's and played through to Broken Steel Mod start. No problems up to that point. Wake up on bed, but mouse is not present, no control. Reinstalled FO3 and BS. no luck. Can anyone shed some light as to where my mouse would have bugged off to. Because FO3 stopped working on W10, I built another older system up using XP pro, 4gig ram, GTX 9800 1Gig solely for FO3 etc. No error codes, just no mouse.
  4. Win 10 updated last week and I can't start FNV. I've tried a complete reinstall only to find that doesn't work. Updated video drivers, nada. I am at the point in whether I go back to win 7 or just build another comp with win 7 just to play FO series.
  5. Hi, your registry still thinks your game is installed because the registry handlers are still active. In the RUN box on your desktop , type REGEDIT. Open HKey_Local_Machine. Look for "Bethesda Softworks" Right click on that and delete it. Then close Regedit. This gets rid of the install path and you will be able to install afresh. Cheers.
  6. Hi, I had the GTS 250 vid card and that was OK. No issues with it at all. However I still had crashing problems until I installed FO3 in another Dir and not the default install path. You can either copy and paste to a Dir on C:\ , ie; c:/games/Bethesda/ and edit your registry to point FO3.exe to that dir. OR, a complete new install using the custom install option and create a new Dir as above. This worked for me fine. Try it and see. cheers.
  7. Hi, certain vid cards are not compatible with FO3 and yet is excellent with FNV. It pertains to certain Nvidia cards because they cannot be opitimized. So if you have one of those, check the specs of your card to see if it is compatible. another one is the ini tweak is for multicore cpu's and not single. Intel graphics is another cause. there is a patch for that. Just a couple to begin with without knowing exactly what your specs are. Cheers.
  8. Are you starting FO thru Steam? If so, try this. Make a Shortcut to "FO3 Launcher" on your desktop. Found in c:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/FO3 and click on FO3Launcher. My experience with steam FO3 is not a good one. It just would not start going thru steam. So I tried this and it plays no trouble at all. Mods will have to be installed there as well to activate them. Mine is working great. It brings you to where you saved last and hopefully, its alright. Geo.
  9. Hi, Have u tried resetting to Default when startup and Settings menu is where the continue and new commands are? try that.
  10. Hi, What is actually happening? What mods installed if any? also what OS have you? Most times the answer is in the bugs.............. . Are you launching the game in steam? If so don't. Create a shortcut to desktop. My experience with steam and FO3 is not very good. I created the shortcut to FO3 launcher and I've been playing it OK. "C:/Program Files/Steam/Steam Apps/FO3/ FO3Launcher" is the location by memory. Go from there and see what happens. I love the game...cheers
  11. Hi, To create a shortcut to FO3 Launcher in steam, 1, right click on desktop and highlight NEW. 2, click on shortcut, and Browse. 3, scroll to, local Disk ©, click on it. 4, scroll to "Program files" and click. 5, scroll to "Steam" and click on arrow to open DIR.. 6, open Steam Apps file and click on FO3. 7, scroll down till you find FO3 Launcher. 8, click on FO3 Launcher and then click on "OK" You have made a Shortcut to FO3. and it should work fine. OK. Happy Wanderings.
  12. Hi, I believe in keeping it simple. FO3 Steam edition will be a beast if you do not do the right things if installing to win7. Uninstall FO3 completely from your system if you have used the standard install procedure. Re install using "custom settings" and install to for example, c:\games\. Now here is something that has worked well for me and has not crashed since. Also install the official 1.5 FO3 patch. What this does is because the game does not function well with win7 and the patch repairs files to work. Then put the Official 1.7 FO3 patch over the top of that. The game runs really well. After you get out of the vault, install all the official DLC's then and only then, say once you get to Springdale or Megaton. After they activate, and you'll know because messages come up on your screen then you can start installing mods, but be careful as to which ones you use. Do one at a time and not like I did and dumped a whole load on. If you have trouble still. You may have to tweak your FO3.ini file in the "users Dir" of My Games/ FO3. But try this first and see what happens.
  13. hi, I had the same problem and hunted all over for an answer. Tried just about everything and in the end all I had to do was install the official 1.5 patch. That enables certain functions to work that is not included or overlooked by later mods and the 1.7 patch. I'm not exactly sure how it works but it got my game running and with no crashes. Also a couple of mods are running sweet now like "Alton IL" Not a bad game at all, I recommend it to anyone.
  14. Hi, are you trying to download using Nexus Download manager? if so try the " manual download" link to download MOD to your Download folder. Use FOMM to install the mod, not NMM. There is something not right with Nexus Download Manager as I have had the same problem but, it works manually.
  15. Hi, are you trying to download a mod using NMM? If so, it doesn't download from the NexusFO3 site. I download manually to my download folder. Then I use the mod manager to install to FO3. If I have read you wrong then I apologise. But this has been working for me for quite some time now. I also have found NMM faulty and have deleted it and I use FOMM which is easier and not a problem.
  16. Hi again, You say that you have FOMM as well as NMM? One or the other but not both.
  17. Hi Ricodovah, Have you moved the game directory to another part of C:\ drive? If so you need to point the NMM to that dir. Otherwise uninstall NMM and use FOMM.
  18. Hi, (1) one way is to reinstall but don't delete the saved games. that way you still begin where you left off. I don't think updating your drivers is the problem. (2) Did you add a mod the last time you were playing. If so deactivate it and see if that works.
  19. Hi, I found that the Lag was due to too higher settings but when I dropped them to the "high" settings it also didn't work. What I had to do was do a manual adjust on "high" , the LOD and shadow, and fade settings and it came right. Also the depth of field. When I first got my vid card it ran on ultra no trouble at all for about 18mths, yep that's how long I,ve had the game. And then I changed to win8 and I ran into trouble with lag and other stuff. But I worked through it all and now it is running quite well. I have the same setup as you, Computer wise.
  20. I take it that your os is win 7? If so, when installing, use the custom setup, to create in another folder ie c:\ Bethesda for example. I am assuming you have done the ini tweak for multiple cores fix. Now this is what works for me. A lot of the time my game was crashing because of my graphic settings. Game settings in graphics was different to my desktop settings and it would try and adjust during game play. No warning as to why it would crash until one time a little widget came up saying " adjusting visual settings" or something like that. and so I checked what my desk top settings were (1920x 1080) and then I changed my game settings to that. I have had no crashes now for quite some time. I also edited my Registry to point to the new settings where I placed the game, and this helps quite a bit as the default is (program files) folder. A lot of people are not comfortable in dabbling with Registry, but I find it ok if you know what you are doing. Stops the crash at start in its tracks. Hope this helps somewhat, as it took me quite a long time to sort some of this out due to being disappointed a lot.
  21. No, do a fresh install of game and mods that u have and then copy your saved games in the " users" dir to the same dir on your new one. That way u don't have to go through the whole thing again. Worked for me.
  22. GabrielBohm Hi, FO3 is not a normal steam client but is a Windows live game although you can install and play without either. I think Steam updating your game is at fault as I have had a similar experience. After all the heartache of crashing and not loading, I ended up deleting all the mods and stripping the game back to its pure form. I reinstalled the game just to make sure and then....then....I could play it. I also kept away from steam and that helps quite a bit. Another thing is I only had this problem in Win7 32bit and when I upgraded to Win8 64bit it ran smoothly, but it won't install on Win8 as a fresh new install. 32bit to 64 bit is the hangup there but will upgrade from win7 32 to win8 64bit no problems. Just thought I'd add that as it might help.
  23. Nekoneta Hi, yep, u can lockpick your way into the shed, and then they will come in hostile. But........I don't think it has anything to do with Arefu. The only way that can happen is if you attack any of Lances people and spoil the quest for protecting arefu. I've wiped out the parents in Andale and I've had no trouble with Arefu at all. Probably because I've completed Arefu Quest long before I got to Andale. Excellent game.
  24. alexw16 - hi, FO3 was built using Nvidia graphics cards gf 8,9 and gtx200 series. If you have a better card installed the better your performance. If you are using a pc or laptop without an add in graphics card you could experience what you describe. The fix is to install a graphics card equal to or better than what is mentioned here.
  25. Orcus2013-hi, Apart from the limits set to the game. You could also remember the last mod you installed which caused the probs and uninstall that or, uninstall the ones that are not that important now that u have reached the limit. wella.
