Vagrant0
Making the game look better? What about breasts twice the size of basketballs? I cannot see how that isnt clearly focused on being erotic.See, now you are exaggerating. NSFW picthe chick on the right is about twice as big as basketballs (Found this in bout 10 seconds via google search)What we see in our games is more than likely no larger than the size of the head. That seems to be the cutoff point. Exaggeration is fine but lets not get carried away :)I doubt that is a real pic. Breasts that large would undoubtedly be too heavy for the person to stand up, let alone not be hunched over. That's not sexy, that's a health hazard, for both the owner and anyone nearby. Anyway, yeah, those kinds of mods are likely made to be erotic. I never said that there weren't mods made with the sole intentions of being erotic. I simply said that just because you see something as erotic does not mean that eroticism was the primary intention behind the mod.
myrmaad
One of my best girl friends in college had breasts the size of 3 of my heads (each one). We've stayed in touch. She's thrilled with her breast reduction surgery. Get over yourselves though. My head isn't tiny. For those who don't know, I'M A WOMAN. Hear me roar. As a woman, I'm not prone to the sexual thought every 9 seconds phenomenon. But I like BEAUTIFUL things. And I want beautiful things in my game including shapely beautiful characters. And I really really really don't get this self-righteous holier than thou attitude about nudity/sexuality/idealized beauty, and how eschewing it makes you somehow more-better. I call bullsh*t. "You are not superior just because you see the world in an odious light." PS While I'm waiting for my bacon and waffles to finish I have a moment to write what occurred to me when I walked away: Which is, This debate (no offense to the OP -- I certainly see why you'd want to pursue it) but in my opinion, it is SO EFFING STUPID. Who the hell cares what I like in MY game? Do you see me policing the dumbass poo mods you people into yours?? And I'm not talking about characters I'm talking about stupid pointless crap. Why is this debate even necessary? How about mind your own *blanking* business.

Start mature debates here. personally, I considered this thread to be a fun little "what do you feel about the subject" topic, not necessary but stillnothing to get "ranty" about
dezdimona
game character females are pixelated images. Photos of RL women are pixilated images also...whats the problem? myrmaad
Nothing personal. It's just that when one of the communities most prolific and valuable artists feels she has to leave because people can't mind their own business, it's probably best NOT to encourage people debate this subject, they might think they have a right to slam a modders' work. Around here they do not. Nor should they.
dezdimona
I take nothing from what happened to her,but as a free society and a website all debates should be welcome no matter what they concern. Pixilated images are in movies, games, and photo's,just some seem to forget that its what they all are!
HouseAtlantic
I see it all as art, from buildings to piercings. I've never seen a mod that didn't make me want to improve my game, and the last thing on my mind is who else cares what I want my game to look like. I take nothing from what happened to her Because it didn't happen to you?Had I been in AS' shoes I wouldn't have had the courtesy of coming back a second time. Losing her as an active modder is a great loss to the community & I personally will miss the feeling of finding new mods made by her. but should we not emulate those that we despise, We should strive to be respectful of others' ideas. And imho it's our duty here to be on the lookout for those who only seek to do us harm. this is a trying time.

PureSnipe
A mod is a mod, and I consider each to be a unique work of art. While some people, like myself, prefer to make things in photoshop or to edit things and make them unique, others prefer to make 3d models and texture them. Think of Michelangelo. Did he make David to be erotic? I don't think so. Myrmaad, I agree to most of what you said. To each their own. But it's only natural for one human to ask another what their interests are. I see someone asking me what I like my character in a game to look like as asking me what music I listen to. Each is an art form on a different medium. I have no shame in saying that I like realism in a game. Be it models redone, facial textures, etc. I've got my own opinions on what I like, but I'm never going to force mine down someone else throat. Honestly, someone here trying to convince one that their tastes in anything relating to the game is no different from me trying to force my tastes in physical appearance (ie. piercings, tattoos) and music down someone else in real life. It's like saying I have to make the person like death metal, go and get multiple piercings and tattoos because that's what *I* like. Yes, those are my interests. I've got lip piercing that I did myself, plan on doing more, and plan on getting multiple tattoos. As for what my character looks like? Well, I try and make it a visual representation of myself. I even have, on occasion, gone and retextured a custom race in order for it to match myself, including the massive scar I have across the entire front of my chest. Once again, I can't state it enough, if that's what they like and as long as it isn't illegal and physically, mentally or emotionally hurting you or someone else, then why must you say they're wrong, unless you have solid proof.
