Dedprice
guess im pretty new to this but i simply have NMM installed (latest version) to desktop as i downloaded it straight off vortex. This sentence makes no sense. NMM is a mod manager. Vortex is a mod manager. i googled nexus mod manager and it took me to vortex. dont know why.. dont care... any way. i use NMM so can we please move on to how im supposed to fix this? i could really care less for everything else UNLESS it involves fixing the mod again revisiting other online forums with similar problems, some say its as simple as removing all the extra numbers at the end of the name. ive done that and mod still has same error. if this means its the pathing can someone please explain how to change the pathing thoroughly. im not tech savvy. wfandrews
Your link to NMM download takes us to "Bad Ass Travelers Pack" You cannot install NMM through Vortex. You want us to move on and help you but there is no may we can help you without having some basic information which you are unable to provide us. I am beginning to think that there is a basic problem in communication here. When you open NMM what do you see? What do the initials NMM mean to you. Read my second sentence. The reason your google took you to Vortex is that Vortex is the present mod manager for Nexus. I think I see the problem, we are confusing "mod manager" with a specific mod manager which is "Nexus Mod Manager" commonly known as NMM. You are undoubtedly using Vortex as your mod manager. O)n the Nexus home page click on "Community" then "Forums" go to the Vortex forum and post your problem in the appropriate place.
wfandrews
We have a problem with communication here. Fur those of us who have been modding for a while NMM stands for a specific mod manager, namely "Nexus Mod Manager" which was the forerunner to Vortex. You are using the initials as a generic term for a mod manager developed by Nexus, which is Vortex. Vortex is undoubtedly the mod manager you are using. To avoid confusion in the future when talking about the mod manager you are using say Vortex. I would advise you to go to the Nexus home page, click on "Community" then "Forums" go to the Vortex forum and post you question there. For any questions relating to Vortex you will get expert help on that forum. Sorry about the miscommunication, I hope you get the help you need on the Vortex forum. Edit This has happened more than once. When I go to the thread I want my last post is not there so I think it did not get posted. then I write another post, post it, and all of a sudden there is.my previous post. Anyway at least there should be no confusion about what I intended to communicate now.
showler
Okay, let's clarify a bit: Are you getting the error about the long file name when you try to download the mod, or when you try to install the mod? If it is when you are trying to download, open the Vortex settings and tell us what the "downloads folder" path says under the "downloads" tab. If it when trying to install the mod, tell us the "mofd staging folder" path underr the "mods" tab. It seems likely that one of those is simply too long for Windows to be able to work with. Dedprice
the mod author had me and another person have the same problem and said he doesnt know what the problem is, because all the files are under 248 characters. This has made me believe it is a file pathing problem and not a file name problem.
showler
The mod author can't tell you that because the length of the file name is what he set it to PLUS whatever your Skyrim install path is set to. Since you continue to refuse to answer questions about that path, I can't help you.
wfandrews
Alright, I believe I have the information needed to answer part of the problem. You are not being rude, I can understand your frustration. There are two places NNM puts mods when they are installed. I believe these paths are what showler has been asking for, and getting a bit frustrated himself. I will tell where I have them installed and you can substitute where you have them installed First is D:>users>Bill>steam>steamapps>common>Skyrim Special Edition>Data, so this is wherever you have Steam installed. The second is where you set up when you first installed NMM, for me it is D:>Games>Nexus Mod Manager>SkyrimSE>Mods If it is a case of your file path to either place where NMM installs a mod those would be it. If that is not the problem then that is all I got. There is one place you might try if you are still having this problem. Nexus still has a NMM forum, although they state quite clearly that it is no longer supported by Nexus. Just go to where I told you the Vortex forum was and scroll down If you are still having problems after trying everything I would just not use the mod. Good luck. There is one other place where there is a list of your plugins although I do not believe that has anything to do with your problem: that is appdata>local>Skyrim Special Edition>plugins.txt. showler
Take this back to the modd author: The folder "BadAss Traveler Pack 2.0 SE\data\meshes\actors\character\animations\DynamicAnimationReplacer\_CustomConditions\240008\" has some empty sub-folders that extend all the way out to "BadAss Traveler Pack 2.0 SE\data\meshes\actors\character\animations\DynamicAnimationReplacer\_CustomConditions\240008\BadAss Traveler Pack 2.0 SE\data\meshes\actors\character\animations\DynamicAnimationReplacer\" Which makes 211 characters all by itself, and the sub-folders are all completely empty. That seems like the likely cause of your issue.
