RAIDio has been my little on the side project for a while now, but I'm finally gonna put some real work into it.

It's a uh, radio mod. Hosted by a psychopathic junkie hermit called Sid.

I've got hundreds of lines written, many recoded, and have the know how to put it all together in the GECK. I do need a few other people though.

Music - I had a playlist of sorts put together, bu lost it. Need someone to find lore friendly public domain/creative commons tracks, and to put together a playlist.

Co-hosts - Not set in stone, but if the right people come forward, could use some more voices on the waves.

If you're interested, drop me a message.

  • 3 weeks later...

Time for an update, haven't talked about this for a while.

Work continues, we're still writing. There's five of us.

Mishaxhi - Sid (host)

Unoctium - ZAX (host)

Cobaltcrysis - Milwaukee (reporter, vegas)

MTwigman - Marshall (reporter, west)

Bentuttle90 - Randy (reporter, east)

Sid - Egotistical violent junkie who loves the sound of his own voice and doesn’t like letting other people get a word in. Frequently high, drunk or otherwise intoxicated, he cares little about music and just wants his voice to be heard. Harbors a deep but unfound and hypocritical hatred for most established factions, namely the NCR and Legion. Prefers showmanship to facts and force to reason.

ZAX - ZAX is a robot of unknown specification. The only one of which is defined is that he is a brain in a jar at the top of clumsy robot chassis. He is incredibly intelligent, yet his body doesn’t allow him to the most basic of tasks. On the surface he truly resents being stuck in one place with this crazy junkie and wonders where it all went wrong. However, deep down, Sid is his only friend left on Earth and and will be at his side even when Sid tortures him.

Marshall - Cowardly paranoid man, just as likely to run for the hills as to report on anything and a bit of a conspiracy theorist not trusting many people. Wishing he was born in a vault instead of to the wasteland, he has as a deep fear of the wasteland though is ashamed of his fears (being pretty much everything in the wasteland from roaches to deathclaws), often exaggerating what he may have heard. Though he is loyal to his friends and will do what he must to get the job done even if it means dulling his senses to do so. Possibly born in what was formerly Canada, he doesn't speak much of it though he sought out vagas after heading south.

Randy- A daredevil who is in way over his head- a heavy drinker, a man who thinks the wasteland is a challenge. Addicted to his adrenaline bursts, Randy goes off in adventures often risking his own life, such as travelling down the I-15 alone or searching for Cazador nests. When he’s not out in the wasteland risking his life, he’s at the blackjack table gambling away hundreds of caps. Randy has a deep hatred of ghouls and will attack on sight.

Milwaukee - Born in presently what was known as Chicago, Illinois, Milwaukee is a

Former Brotherhood of Steel Scribe that was kicked out about 15 years ago due to jury-rigging the Midwestern Airship to fly again, and promptly crashing it into a local village. Ever since he's hated the brotherhood with a passion, and ultimately started to lose his senses wandering the Chicago ruins, rambling about "How the Enclave was immortalizing him as a 'god of sky'". Due to his high-risk attitude, the second he heard of a huge city in the Mojave dedicated to gambling and show business, he knew he'd have the guts, and the shitty stories to make it there. Currently a man showered in caps due to "winning" all of the poker games at The Tops, he's prone to blowing it all in one night, mysteriously returning with more caps than before.

Writing is around 70-80% done, and we're due to start recording this weekend. I think we've covered nearly every major quest in NV, and many of the minor ones. We've tried to make sure that every possible avenue and quest path has been covered. It's impossible to count the current number of lines. Google docs gives me 16300 words, so we've gotta be well over a thousand lines of dialog, probably over 2000 when we're done writing. Impossible to say, I'll count it before release.

Needless to say, editing will be a long process, but the GECK work itself is pretty quick and easy. (no lip syncing!)

Couldn't estimate a release date, but putting everything into this right now. Will have some more previews when we're editing.

Any plans to implement a physical station in the Wasteland? One of the few things I preferred about Fallout 3 over New Vegas was the fact that the radio stations had an actual presence in the game world itself.

Yep. The physical stations built, not much to it right now though, but works ongoing.

The three reporters will also be in the world, traveling on week long AI packages. They'll only give on scene reports when they're actually on scene, so if you hear Marshy reporting from Primm, you can actually go there and meet him.

Not sure if this will all make it into the first build. Quests are planned too, and largely written. Nothing too big, just adds some flavour.

Got some numbers. Keep in mind you won't hear all of these in one playthrough, several need to be unlocked by completing quests in certain ways. ie:

report of monorail bombing at mccarran

report of thwarted monorail bombing at mccarran

report of captured legion commander being held in mccarran

report of captured legion commanders escape from mccarran

Anyway, for news.

- over 40 in studio news reports

- over 80 on scene news reports

- 10~ commercials

For introductions, transmissions, random segments, ect. we're adding more all the time, and I plan to ad lib most. Hard to give a number.

Every single type of playthrough is supported. Whether you're NCR, Legion or a psychopath who slaughters everybody.

Writing ends Friday, we plan to start recording this weekend.
