scorptatious
One of the things I liked about the Classic Fallout games was that you had dialogue options that clearly made you look dumb or would cause problems for you. With New Vegas, you had dialogue options appear if you reach a certain threshold. If you didn't reach said threshold, then an option that indicates a skill failure appears instead. Example: Speech 50: <Lie> Any fool can see that girl has all the symptoms of Pustular Hypomyalgia! Speech 49/50: But the girl is sick. With classic symptoms of, uh... Vagina Dentata? I was wondering if it was possible for there to be a mod that allows both options to appear at the same time for all the dialogue skill checks in the game? As well as removing the dialogue tags? (I know there's a mod for that at least) I have no idea how to do something like this myself, so it would be awesome if someone on here could. Thank you. laclongquan
It's not a bad idea, certainly. Sometimes we just want to check the failed response, simply because it sounds/read better. Sometimes we want to fail the check simply because it lead to a needed result. And almost always we want to see ALL the game has to offer. And hiding shits for "immershun" is frankly overrated. In my opinion, certainly much overrated.
sullyvanj93
I believe it would involve going in and redoing all of the game's dialogue by hand. See, the way dialogue skillchecks work in the game is to have a single line of dialogue with two possible sub-options. I'll word it this way; your two examples you used actually appear in-geck as a single dialogue line. "CampForlornHopeMedTentDialogue7" just as a random example name. When speaking with an NPC, that dialogue line is added as an option in the dialogue tree. Then within that dialogue line it is broken up into two separate options, one that appears if your skill meets a certain criteria, and one that appears if it doesn't. If you simply take out the requirement, it will only show the first option since it's requirements were met first. What you would have to do is create a new additional dialogue line and copy/paste the "failed" line into it,. That is just half the work though, as then you would have to add that new dialogue line to the applicable dialogue tree for the additional option to properly appear. For every single speech check in the entire game. That would be QUITE tedious and probably wouldn't play well with other mods that possibly alter specific vanilla dialogue (and wouldn't touch any dialogue in new mods either). At least, that is what I would know how to do. Perhaps someone much more skilled than I knows of a nifty work-around that can just trick the game into showing both, but in my experience, geck dialogue is pretty simplistic. laclongquan
Certainly, fixing/messing with it that way would be too much work to be feasible.
Radioactivelad
It's maybe possible to create a hotkey that puts you in "Dumb Mode", debuffing all your skills at minimum values and allowing you to select Failure options. The only problem is that while the game can detect gamestate changes in Dialogue Mode, your actual dialogue choices don't get updated unless you re-navigate to that choice. Which can be done in some circumstances, but not all of them. Edited January 24, 2022 by Radioactivelad
laclongquan
Two mode (hotkeys) : Dumb mod as you said, and super skilled mod with all stat at 10 and skill at 100.
