Branjax
I always try before I buy, first impressions and all that. So as I am downloading the mod manager I see all these requests to download crapware I don't need as I proceed through the install process, I decline each one. I realize that sites are hoping for people to rapidly click thru it all and unwittingly install it etc... Well much to my surprise, despite the fact that I declined, I am looking at a tool bar that is telling me my PC has 88 errors, there is a link to click to shop at amazon.com I have one facebook message (I don't have an account), it is 93 degrees outside, my start page has been hijacked by conduit etc..... When I dig through the Win 8 uninstaller and remove and reboot.....they are back again much to my surprise! Great first impression to your services....ones I will not be using. Community Manager Dark0ne Posted August 31, 2013 Community Manager Share Posted August 31, 2013 You went to http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/modmanager//? (or another Nexus site equivalent) and you clicked the green "Download now" button next to the "Endorse NMM" button and you received an installer with lots of adware in it? That's not right. NMM is completely free of adware, we have no other installers or third-party programs bundled in to NMM and have nothing in the install process to do with it. If they did you could be sure there'd be (lots of) posts about it here on the forums. As you're the first one of over 2 million people to ever mention this It sounds like either your system has crapware on it already or you've downloaded NMM from another site and it's been ladled with crapware. NMM is open source so anyone can rebundle it and offer it for download. Only the download from that page linked is official.
