The Problems of the World

In your opinion, what is the biggest problem of the world today?

My thoughts:

Racism; Racism has been going on for centuries, and even though it has improved drastically it is still armed and dangerous (:P). It almost seems as if we have lost focus in racism around the world. Gangs have a BIG part in racism, as does the KKK and Black Panthers n' such.

Blacks vs Whites

I find this to be the most appealing rivalry in the World. (not really) A new racial slur pops up every month, and blacks still can't get over the fact our aunt sisters had Africans as slaves, and YES they still are mad at us crackers... I mean whites for mindlessly abusing the Africans Americans, just because we thought it was doing no harm to anyone. But one WHITE man ended slavery, and we're still debating. It makes no sense. Move on.

I really agree with this. I think it's retarded that they are still butthurt, and griping about slavery, especially since EVERYBODY in human history had slaves. It was the fad of our species back then, and Africans had slaves as well!

Another problem with the world is money. I think we should go back to the barter system.

Let's elaborate a bit more on those two:

I say it's greed and discrimination. Is it the money or the greed that's the problem?

Also, aren't there problems still today with discrimination? I'd say so, since there's wars waged from religious intolerance and there's problems in America still with sexism.

Its a tough balance. on one side you have strongly cultural types who rabidly defend their traditions and ways, citing that homogenization would essentially rob them of their heritage.

Blending of races vs cultural identity

on either side you have your extremists.

somehow we must find a middle ground where we can recognize different cultures and histories without supporting those same lines of division so far along that they become hateful sentiments.

On the surface the gov't and mass media denounce racism in the same way most of us do, however under the surface they continually support it by reminding us constantly about the racial divisions, keeping us apart. Its all a distraction, keep the peons pitted against eachother while you control them from above. Keep their eyes on eachothers throats, and away from the throats of those who deal the cards.

That's easy. Humans. The filthy scum are like a virus on the planet. ;)

History has shown that we do not learn from history...and thus are doomed to repeat it.

Here is another one...power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. There has not been an example of a lasting rulership that does not end up falling on its own sword.

Here is another one. If you are back in the day where you are a hunter / gatherer living by yourself and you are wandering out on the plains hunting for food and see the faint outline of another man, what is your gut instinct? Continue about your business or do you investigate to see if that person is a threat? The problem here is fear of the unknown which is also fear of what's different. This will never change...even if we were all the same color and identical clones of each other.

I have no idea what you just said.

Another huge problem is idiots. People, for some reason don't use their brains. Hell, we're given the responsibility to obtain the most powerful machine in the world, and a lot of us use it to one forth of it's capability. And because people decide they will buy whatever the hell they want, thinking the bank will not mind, we all suffer for it.

Imbalance - When decisions are made without equal balance of ethical and temporal concerns (in either direction, either too much influence of "morality" or no influence at all of "morality"), the decision becomes flawed. The cultural opinions known collectively as 'morality' differ vastly from region to region, and what holds to be true and good in Dayton, Ohio, USA will often bear little connection to what holds to be true and good in Jakarta, Indonesia (just as an example).

Shortsightedness - I've heard it described before that decisions should be considered "unto the seventh generation"... meaning that the long-term effects of any decision should be considered... not just how it will affect next year, or the next five years, but rather how it will affect the next seven generations (about 105 years). Greed and laziness are primary symptoms of shortsightedness, and the USA is often a great victim of that ill... Americans tend to think of life in terms of the financial quarter, the fiscal year, or (most-often) the current administration (which is only eight years at best).

As a slight sidebar, here's a really good article written in layman's terms that explains fairly well how the collapse of AIG and others came to be. As you read it, consider how many of the decisions that it describes were tainted with imbalance and shortsightedness.
