WIP: Berserker Race

This is the fourth forum I've posted this request on and I haven't received so much as a single reply. It's getting frustrating because this is the one teeny tiny thing I need tweaked before I can make this race mod, but I don't know how to use Blender yet.

 

I'm going to copy what I posted on another forum. If anyone can help me I'd be very grateful. For someone who knows Blender this is probably a very simple request. I got halfway there on my own but something is causing my attempt to be crash happy so I'm sure I'm missing something.

 

In my random browsings of the web I've learned that there is a Berserker race based on the Berserk manga, and that it was created by Idkrrr. I've also learned that this super-cool mod is not available to us non-Korean speaking folks because it's hidden away on some site which apparently requires you to sign over your firstborn child to get access.

 

I have an idea to make my own version of this to share with the English speaking community. I have resources, but as I am not a modeler I'm here to ask for a little bit of help with one detail.

 

Please look at this picture. See how his right eye is shut? Can anyone do this for me to the head model attached or hit me upside my head with the setting I'm possibly missing in the CS to accomplish this without editing the head model? I know there's an 'asymmetrical' setting I can try but I think that's for NPCs and not races.

(This head model is from the Cute Elves mod in case anyone's wondering. As far as I'm aware it can be used with credit. This file link only contains the head model.)

 

This is as far as I got on my own. I think it looks all right, but I must have messed something up because it crashes the CS and the game. Help please?

You may be having the crash because of the animations. If the eyelid is animated and you are sealing it shut, it could be causing the crash. I'm going to download it and take a look at it, maybe I can help.

That's probably it. I was able to edit the Breton ears into that small point probably because that was a simple non-animated model. Thanks for taking a peek.

 

Edit: The link above is to the non-edited head model. I can upload my crash happy one if it will help.

Ok, I closed the eye I loaded it to mediafire if you want and you can try it out, It would take too long for me to try to figure out how to load it in the game. Let me know if it crashes and then I'll try changing the weight paint if it does crash.

Ok, I'll see if I can figure it out but it'll be a few hours. I really need some sleep. I've been up too long.

Whenever you check it out again, this might help. I've made an esp file to put it in the game for testing purposes. I would have put it back on Media Fire except for some reason it decided to refuse the upload. This happens once in awhile but for now I just put it on ADrive.

I just checked the skeleton with it and the head has no weight paint. I can transfer the weights later tonight and try it out. I'm pretty sure that should fix it but I have been awake way to long to try that now.

 

I downloaded the esp and I'll check it later.

I've been working on this all night but I haven't been able to fix it. There are a few problems that I've run into. The esp file that you sent me is no help because I have no idea what you could have named him or where in Cyrodill you could have placed him. I don't know what is in the esp. The folder has an egm and a tri file but I don't know what they are for. As far as I can tell the mesh has no texture assigned to it and since that is the problem that I have been having all along, I can't help you with this.

 

I can UV map the head and open one of the Bethesda textures in blender but I can only save as a tga. That's where I get lost.

 

When I create a new race in the CS and use this nif file as the head for the race, The flesh is transparent. That is why it crashes the game.

That's what I did to make the test .esp. I just cloned the Imperial and switched the head mesh to the new one. It should be using the default Imperial textures. I just called the race 'Gatts' and it crashes when you scroll to it in the character creation menu.

 

As far as the .egm I think it has something to do with sizing the head in the character menu. The .tri I don't know. I do recall trying to tweak a hair style once and it lost the ability to be color shaded in the character creation menu. Maybe altering this head model is creating a similar error. If that's the case then I have no idea how to deal with it either.

 

I wonder how Idkrrr did it. I'd have asked directly but I don't think Idkrrr speaks much English. With my luck someone who has Idkrrr's version will tell me that eyelid is photoshopped shut in the picture.

 

If it simply refuses to work I have a plan to just use Elaborate Eyes on this race and make that eye look damaged or blind or something. Don't make yourself crazy trying to get it to work. I appreciate the help regardless.
