Helly Guys,

I have the problem that the torch ist not setting up the oilpooltrap.

I did block with the torch, shield-bash with it crouch around in the pool doing the same stuff nothing did help.

I can let it go off it with magic flames but not with the torch.

I did to a look into the trapgasonhit-file the torch is IN the list so it SHOULD work.

In the trapgasonmagiceffectapply-file there is the hazardfiredamgeffcontact-file from the torch. So it REALLY should work!

Anyone any ideas why it does not??

THx a lot.

Then I really don't know. I don't recall ever trying to set off an oil trap with a torch. I'm not sure if I ever even set off the gas at places like Alftand, either. But then I tend not to carry torches, although my followers do if we are not sneaking.

Magick works, as you say, but I don't remember if an enchanted Flame bow would do the same if you shoot an arrow.

You said you looked at the trapgasonhit and the trapgasonmagiceffectapply. Is there a similar thing for an oil trap? Maybe torches will set off gas because it is more volatile - you cannot set off oil with a simple torch in the real world, it needs a higher temperature to spark it off. Maybe the game does the same thing?

Or do you have any mods that might affect the torches? I know that some mods use the torch as a base form for other things, so maybe there's an error somewhere which have stopped the torches setting off oil traps?

I am having the same problem with a mod I am working on. Is there a way to set a fire using a torch?

Well, I have not found a solution yet. The settings are stored in the gastrapfiles. It was no problems to change them to let lightning inignite the traps.

But torch did not work. I think it has to do with the fact that spells use "aimed" while weapons and torch use "contact".

You can try yourself hit a chair with the torch, you will hear a bash sound, hit the ground you will hear noting...

I you are looking for a solution, try the connan mod and browse through the files, it uses inignitable fireplaces that can be lit with a torch.

He must have found a solution.
