FathomsDeep
I've been poking and prodding my game in every way I know how, and Rikke, the cow, refuses to give me the order to start the Jagged Crown quest. I gave my oath, got my armor, and now, she just stands there cycling and recycling the conversation with Tullius, who keeps telling her not to forget to take me along. I have waited hours, days, wandered off to other parts of the country and come back, I have reloaded, relogged, and even started a brand new game and played myself up to a reasonable level and tried again. No joy. Can't start the quest with console for some unexplainable reason either. I even tried the various "bash her over the head" suggestions others have offered. Can someone please tell me how to get past this so I can continue my Civil War storyline? Pretty please?
KanesGhost
Are you using any Civil War Mods?
Lord Garon
Try a getstage cw02a in the console; should be a 10 and your Journal objective should say "Talk to Legate Rikke". Verify the game still wants you to talk to her: enter sqt in the console. You'll have to scroll up using the PAGE UP key to find "Current quest: cw02a". The reference number is the quest target. If the quest is stuck, the target will (probably) still be Rikke: reference 000198BB. A setstage cw02a 20 in the console "should" give you the next objective (meet Rikke at a ruin) if the quest has not been modified.
FathomsDeep
Wow- sorry I failed to find my original thread and reposted the request. :blush:KanesGhost: I was not previously using any civil war mods, though I actually installed The Civil War Overhaul in hopes it would actually fix this. It didn't. (Of course.)Lord Garon: cw02a won't start at all. I take the oath, Tullias tells me to go get outfitted and oh, by the way, Rikke has a project for me... then nothing. Tried leaving to get my armor, coming back... still nothing. And I don't even have the quest. It's just not there at all. I tried starting it, (player.setstage cw02a 10,) and it seemed to accept the command, but nothing changed. I then tried the same, but with the stage set to 20... still nothing. And now just for something to try, I attempted with the Stormcloaks, and the same thing happens. Are you saying I need to apply the setstage to Rikke, and not to myself? Worth a shot, I guess.... Georgiegril
Make sure that you revert to a save from before you ever added CWO, or you will have lingering script issues from that.

No, quests are for the player. I think Georgiegril is right; something has modified/replaced the original cw02a script. Script changes are "baked in" to your savegame and they will (try to) function even after the original mod is uninstalled. I don't know of a way to remove "baked in" script changes from a savegame. FathomsDeep
Apparently, it would be something from a mod, some mod which I've had for months, and didn't remove before starting the new game. As I said- I didn't want to start completely fresh. Doing that would require a complete wipe of my mod collection, which in the end I may need to do anyhow, but it's daunting, since I have a lot,and I'm very fond of all of them. Also, clearing them all would mean starting a game, and playing through a dozen levels or so in a naked, vanilla game, which would suck. Skyrim unmodded... is just a whole lot less awesome. It was my hope that someone who saw these posts would be familiar with the specific problem, and know which mod actually broke the script. Thanks to you both for trying, at least. :)
FathomsDeep
Well, here's something new I'm trying: I traced CW02a to an xml dialog trigger, so I backed up, then renamed that xml, and ran a validation from Steam. It came up with missing/damaged files, and is currently replacing them. We'll see if it works, I suppose, and I'll drop word here if it does, for anyone else who's struggling with this issue. No joy. (And I had to manually restore the xml from the back-up, since apparenlty it wasn't one of the files Steam found that needed to be replaced.)
