Skyrim downloads moving directories on their own.

So I had to reload my os and redo my mod install thru vortex and I have an unusual behavior with skyrimse mods. I have vortex dowloads setup as a hardlink deployment to h:\vortex download\skyrimese and vortex staging folder to h:\vortex mods\skyrimese. After I've installed the mods thru vortex the next time I launch vortex ...... vortex moves the downloaded files from h:\vortex download\skyrimese to h:\vortex download\skyrime special edition. This is contrary to what is setup in the setting section of vortex and not what is expected or desired!

Did you click apply when setting the paths?

Be aware that the download path is for all mods. It is not per-game.

So you'd need to set your download folder as H:\vortex download\ and Vortex will automatically create a skyrimse or skyrimspecialedition folder.

similar but without the reinstall, last 3 mods I've downloaded are in a new directory "skyrimspecialedition" instead of "skyrimse" with the other 150 mods, really don't want multiple directories for the same game. Only noticed because I went looking for the archive and it wasn't in the folder despite being active in game lol

I am having the same problem where vortex will create 2 folders for Skyrim special edition , meaning when you search in vortex for a mod it doesn't appear unless you look into the other folder and drag it into vortex manually , at 1st when importing all my mods it seems fine but then will start creating and moving the mods on its own

do you mean the mods name? if so I don't think so

an example . A Quality World map was originally in the skyrimse and vortex has put it in the new folder skyrimspecialedition .

going to try leaving both folders intact and copying from one to other see if it wants to move them again .

This is not a site recommendation.

But if it were me, I would assume Vortex changed the name for clarity.

I would download a mod from Nexusmods and see where it winds up.

I would then cut the contents of all other download directories (like skyrimse) and paste them in the current one.

I would not expect the problem to reoccur.

Note that the Downloads directory is pretty forgiving. You can move it anywhere, put it on a flash drive - and Vortex won't care.

Don't try this with any other Vortex directory, like the mod staging directory. Disaster will ensue.

Oh - I recently learned of the nifty feature of the Vortex Download directory.

Say you have a mod that is used by Skyrim LE, Skyrim SE, and Skyrim VR. Vortex only saves one copy.

Under the Downloads tab you can specify which games a mod is used for. You can then install it from any of the selected games.

I tried cutting them to the folder where vortex is downloading mods (slyrimse) and vortex came up with message _some downloads were not finalized_ and moved them all back to (skyrimspecialedition) but now it seems it is finding all mods when I search no matter which folder they are in , so at least now I don't have to manually look in the other folder,
