oldphart
I put off getting Skyrim until I got a new computer (and made do with Oblivion and Morrowind in the meantime), but now I got the boxed "legendary edition". It installed without problems and runs fine at maxed quality, but there is one thing I am unable to get rid of. I have a big clock dial with no hands just below my target pointer / sneak eye. I have tried to google for solutions, but do not get any relevant hits. The thing does not seem to have any function, and it comes on already on the load screen before I click "Continue". I have tried a couple of UI mods to unclutter my display, but they do not affect it. It is not affected by the opacity setting either.
Georgiegril
Have you registered the game with Steam, and is steam running when you are playing?

oldphart
Turn off the windows side bar.I do not understand what you mean by that. I am running full-screen (Windows 8 pro, GTX 770 @ 2560x1440, newest drivers for everything). I am not aware of any Windows side bar or any setting for it. Georgiegril
Ah. I am sorry I don't have your answer, but have you searched these forums for Windows 8- related problems? It seems to me that there have been some threads about that. Since I still have Windows 7 I haven't really paid attention to them, but it may be a Windows 8 specific issue and there may already be a solution. As for the side bar thing, doesn't Windows 8 have a side bar that you open up to get to the things that are in the start bar in Windows 7? (Forgive me I spent like 10 minutes on my sister's Windows 8 laptop, so I could be wrong.)

(Forgive me I spent like 10 minutes on my sister's Windows 8 laptop, so I could be wrong.)Finally found it! It was a program that came with my new Asus ROG motherboard - Sonic Radar. Has no function in a game like Skyrim, so I do not know why it got activated.Anyhow, thanks for the help. It was only because I was rummaging through the installed stuff in Win 8 that I noticed an icon just like my problem.By the way, Win 8 is noticeably more efficient than Win 7 on the same hardware.
