Check out http://www.tessource.net/content/oblivion/screenshots.php for all 15 currently published screenshots. I too think they've really overdone the lighting in some areas. Not sure if bloom is the technical term or not (I really don't know! Technical graphic terms have never been my strong point!) but everything looks far too "shiney".

Agreed.

And Luthiel, what did you think they were? I'm interested...

take a look at the two famale face shots from Dark0ne's link. it sincerely looks like they render modeled some actresses for those characters. either that or they have some very very talented cg modeling staff, because they look almost photorealistic. however, the single only thing I've ever found wrong with human faces in every game is that the eyes dont quite fit into the sockets smoothly. Bethesda has done quite a beautiful job so far on the environment and weapon/armor models, but they seem to have stumbled in that same area many others have fallen short. that is, for the time being at least. then again, its not like you'll be staring into the eyes some perfectly modeled almost angelic cg damsel for a long time :wink2: ...

hey i looked at the female Npc pics from darkones link too, i was just wondering though, why the second one looks different from the first?

yours sincerely

Luthiel Dragonsoul

They're different ages, obviously. This is to demonstrate the age slider we will be given in the CS to add NPCs of various ages. Some people on the official boards speculated quite a bit on this but were given this answer from Steve.

Characters will not age. The comparison photos were indicating that you can easily set the age of characters in the game and the face will be automatically altered appropriately.

Well, "obviously" it's not that obvious; otherwise, people wouldn't have asked what the difference was.

For people to age, you would have to play for many hours. And despite the fact that many of us will cast off what little social lives we have [not speaking for myself, of course  ] and make Oblivion our new king, it would only take up more time. Thus delaying the oh-so-beautiful TESIV...

Hmm i still need to complain about the lack of shadows indoors. The tables, chairs, and other objects fail to cast a shadow. If you look at the minatuar screen it seems like the outdoor shadows are working (as well as self shadowing) but indoors strangely lacks that aspect.

Well, like I said earlier, it's probably either because:

A. The shadows aren't programmed in yet, or more likely-

B. Running shadows on every detailed object indoors would tax the PC so much that the game would look like a slide show [aka 2-5 FPS].

My guess is as good as anybody's at this point, so......

Wait and see.
