obfuscate
Okay, I actually came up with the idea, back when I was helping someone trouble shoot their clothing mod. There's lots of nice clothing/armors that just lay around, or appear in the magic boxes outside vault 101. Then we have the one vendor, that was placed inside Uncle Roe's place. Step in the right direction, but can be taken farther. So, I cracked open the GECK, yanked the boards off the boarded up barber shop door right there at the "town square" and started building the interior. I'm up to the cluttering portion of building the cell, and came up with the idea of making it sort of a mini flea market. Towards that end, I've got 11 "place holder" containers, 10 for guest vendors and one for the main shop owner. I've got a little more work to do before I've got something presentable to put pictures up for folks to see, but it's the full size of the building you see from outside, with lots of shelves, and 2nd floor balcony inside, with even more shelving. The over all design I'm leaving fairly open, even though I named the cell "Taboo Clothing". The way I'm laying out the shelves, just about any sort of merchant could find space, for their modder to clutter up and place the vendor near. I'm planning on adding idle markers, fully nav-meshed, etc... so any NPC's in there have something to do, besides stand in one spot, if people wish, and happen to make their vendor capable of any sort of wandering. I'm curious if there's interest, from the folks cranking out series of items/clothing, in taking advantage of the space? I'm going to stop at having a navigable space, with proper atmosphere and resources, with "placeholders" that others can replace as they need. I'll see about learning the ins and outs of setting up a vendor, myself, to be able to offer vendor installation services, later. First thing's first though, get the space ready. Deleted1084753User
This is a pretty awesome idea. So you're like a shop owner who has lots of space who's decided to 'rent' out his space for other shop owners (modders) to occupy and sell their wares from? I dunno why but the idea tickles my fancy somewhat. Why oh why does this game not have multiplayer, something like this would be pretty awesome if everyone could actually do their stuff in realtime online. Ah well, this is certainly the next best thing as a modders resource :) I assume you have the idea of actually integrating other people's clothing/armour/etc mods into this one, so people can download an all-in-one flea market shopping experience? That'll be pretty sweet if enough people are interested. Nice idea, looking forward to how this pans out.
IceDragon987
It would actually be better to have plugins along with of a full flea-market experice. Like the flea-market experience (as you've named it :D) would be the general vendors that don't require other mods to function. then ahve plugins for nude body mod venders (the clothing for them, dimon99, malos etc) clasic fallout weapons vendor WMK vendor possibilites are endless
Deleted1084753User
Yeah, an esm file that other modders could extend from would be a good idea :)
obfuscate
While I understand the basics that would be needed, a vendor script package, the shop itself, some form of management system to let the modders occupy the "next available space" with their vendor, the execution is beyond my scope at the moment, and with my real life schedule, would take me quite some time to figure out. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to be able to set it out as something they could just fill in the blanks on a template with their vendor name, inventory batch, and throw it in there, but I know it's just not something I'm capable of doing at this point in time. Storm Raven
obfuscate, That's what's good about being part of a community, there are others around, who can help explain, vendor scripting, along with many other things, they me even be willing to help you do it! This is often why mods are developed by teams. No one individual can be an expert on everything. So people with expertise in different areas come together and combine their expertise. In the process, everyone on the team learns a great deal from everyone else on the team about the things they didn't know in other areas of Modding. I think the reason you're hearing suggestions that you create the basic ESP and let other Modders create separate ESPs as add-ons, is because especially in early versions, there will be many changes to the individual ESPs. If you had to update your own ESP, every time they updated thier's, it could turn into a full-time job. It is possible, and mod project leaders do it all the time, to create master mods that are updated with the work of individual members of the team, who are working separately. But it can be a little tricky, speaking from experience. In any event, I like your idea. Not just because it's a good idea, but because it provides for the participation of a community of Modders. Each one working on their own vendor, but all of them working together, underneath one roof as it were. I will be keeping an eye on this project, and if I can be of any assistance let me know. obfuscate
Well this fell a few pages back. Suppose it has been a while since I got to work on it any. :whistling: Anyhow, did some more work on the interior and got some screen shots ready to start showing it, so here ya go. These first two are done using the cell lighting, such as it is, so far. The view as you walk in the door. That cabinet on the counter is where I put a bunch of knives, brass knuckles, and sunglasses(vanilla ones) A look behind the counter at the guest vendor storage place holders (foot lockers and safes) and the shop owner inventory container (locker) Gimme a minute to reduce the image size of the others and I'll add them in following posts.
