Balance Mods

I'm looking for a high quality balance mod similar to XFO that's compatible with MMM Beta 4. It kind of seems like XFO is dead, since it hasn't been updated in a while, and while I was very fond of it, running it in conjunction with Mart's mod (even WITH the esp designed to make them compatible) has a bunch of unappealing effects, like invisible perk icons, invincible glowing ones, and randomly gaining entire levels.

So, basically, I'm looking for something in a similar vein that has no issues running together with the latest MMM.

I hear some mixed reviews concerning FOOK. Supposedly it's really nifty, but has little in the way of quality control concerning new armor and weapons.

Any suggestions?

My only suggestion is to download the mods piecemeal.

For example I use http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=85 to get more realistic cripple damage.

And yeah I had a similar issue with fook, I liked some of the changes and hated other changes.

when I first installed FOOK I thought it was one of the best mod's I'd ever used, then all the crashes started. I used it for about two day's before uninstalling it, but I still have the sound's and textures left over cause they are nifty

I would love it if FOOK were divided in 2 parts:

1. Rebalances, Tweaks and Gameplay Changes

2. New Content

That way we could choose to have the awesome non-new-content changes, but skip the plethora of added stuff that frankly, although its nice and varied, is a bit more than we want to chew when we bite into the sandwich :)

if that makes any sense...

not to bash the FOOK though, thats alot of hard work, its just a shame to see all those changes and modifications go to waste by packing them up with vast amounts of custom added content which frankly, may not be the combination of additional content we are looking for.

Now that doesn't sound like a bad suggestion I guess. Feel free to suggest more!

Are there any existing threads covering this sort of thing? Because if not I'd like to volunteer this thread as one where people can list their favorite balance and gameplay "fixes".
