Dave345
Afternoon, I was wondering if anyone may know what's causing this problem plaguing my game: http://img15.imageshack.us/my.php?image=problemv.jpg Sorry about not using the Attachment system on Nexus.. I wasn't entirely sure how, I don't use forums often. With this glitch, I assume it's caused by one of my mods - of which I have about 30 enabled and active, however short of going through them one by one, disabling them, I can't think of any of addressing this issue. I just wanted to see if anyone here had seen this problem before, and knew exactly which mod could be causing it. dezdimona
General Load-Order GuidelinesHere are the guidelines that I adhere to, personally. ~ Unofficial Oblivon Patch should always be first on the list. The fixes are great, but most aren't essential, so if a mod overwrites them its not a big deal, and the fixes have the potential for screwing up other mods if loaded later. ~ Offical Content (DLC's) should be loaded last, until you complete all quests associated with them (that includes buying all furniture for the houses and whatnot). Once they're complete, they can be safely moved up in the list. This is especially important for Knights of the Nine, which will have some fairly major problems unless loaded last (unless you get the UOP for KotN) ~ Major overhaul mods (OOO, Frans, MMM) should be loaded near the end. That gives you the most complete experience with any of those particular mods. It also lets you carefully choose which other mods to load afterwards... only move mods that you know will conflict and that you want the changes from. For example, I have Improved Soul Gems below OOO because I know that OOO changes the icons of some of the SG's, and ISG needs to be below to show through. Some people will recommend putting larger mods first, but personally I disagree. There are a number of mods out there that make minor tweaks, and loading after a large mod will end up completely overwriting a chunk from one of the bigger mods because of the way conflicts work in Oblivion (even one minor change will take precedence over the entire record... for example, simply tweaking the speed of a weapon can cause every stat of that weapon to be retained to vanilla levels if loaded later). So basically, it stacks up like this... Oblivion.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch<Minor Mods / DLC's (Post-Completion)><Major Overhaul Mod/Mods><Mods that specifically conflict with overhauls and need to take precedence><DLC's (Pre-Completion)> Expanded Load-Order Guidelinesby dev_akm I would extend this to include: Oblivion.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch<Weather/Environment/Sound Mods><Minor Mods/New Items/Houses/DLC's (Post-Completion)><Major Overhaul Mods><Mods that specifically conflict with overhauls and need to take precedence><DLC's (Pre-Completion)><Quests><Compatibility Patches/UOMP/Merged Leveled Lists> And a special-case warning for Knights.esp (Knights of the Nine) -- you may not be able to move it earlier than some other mods (some people have had problems after moving it before OOO, for example). That's basically the structure I use and I have 140+ mods working well together. Another way of describing this (posted by DMan77):....Oblivionunoffical patchDeeper realism mods that add sights and soundsadded content like weapons/itemsgameplay changes, like 'must eat and sleep'The OOO typethe 'new begining' type mod............... for future reference mass installing mods without verifying each one works is a bad idea. Install one, make sure it works then add another and so on. This saves you headaches in the long run.
bben46
When and where is this happening? If it waits for a while, then seems to start I would suspect an overheating video card. If it starts as soon as you start the game I would look into the video drivers. The only mod I have seen do something like this is Streamline 3.1 (I never saw it on the older version. It only happened in particular locations outdoors, and vanished as you got close.
nosisab
Just disabling ESPs of mods that includes textures and meshes may be itself source of issues. This would be specially valid if you delete only the ESP from that kind of mod. If you did delete mods recently you should perform an archive invalidation so to force the game to seek for the files again instead trying to look at not, anymore, available paths. Dave345
dezdimona; I'll have a play around with the load-out order this morning, arranging it like you aforementioned would undoubtedly be useful, I'll also be sure to be more diligent with checking each mod individually next time upon installation. bben46; it's instantaneous upon loading Oblivion, so wouldn't be overheating. I'll check into my drivers, and even though I don't have the Streamline mod, my problem is exactly the same as you describe 'particular locations outdoors, and vanished as you got close.', I mean the problem itself doesn't seem to do any harm, it's just an eyesore. nosisab; Haven't deleted anything related to Oblivion, or started disabling mods in an attempt to correct this yet. You'll have to forgive me for this - but how exactly do I perform an Archive Invalidation? I mean, isn't that simply a documentation for keeping tabs upon what's installed?
