What are the dots for?

I believe these were around even in the old layout, but I noticed them just now and I wonder what those are. You know, the dots below the Members/Supporter thingy, I think I have four of those. They should be somewhere around...

 

 

 

 

<- ...here. I'm pretty sure they were there since forever, and I've seen some having one, two, three, four, even five. I think the number of those seem to depend on the number of posts somehow. But... what are they? Pacman food? Bugs planted by SiteBot in order to spy on us? Swamp gas? I can't figure them out. :confused:

Can't say I didn't know before, 'cause, who didn't? But according to here those 'pips', as they call them, represent the member rank.

That's because you have a Premium badge there Jim, same as I have a staff badge on mine.

 

It's just a badge/tag placement area, regular members don't have one, so it's on the default dots.

So it's some sort of a ranking system. I think swamp gas would've been better, but member ranks are good too, thanks for an explanation. :smile:

 

So, I have four dots and it seems that the maximum is five, even SiteBot has only five. That means I have a next-to-highest rank, nice. :cool:
