Assault actor event and the story manager

Recommended Posts

I wanted to make a little mod that told me when I accidentally murdered someone.

I started by trying to get a notification when I assaulted someone, anyone. From what I read the "assault actor event" seemed the best bet. And I got it to work, for some NPCs, I have punched poor Ysolda so many times... and my little script records nothing, Danica Pure-Spring on the other hand...

So I must be missing something, here are some screenshots of my little quest attached to the story manager:

I also had it working to the same extent with a quest fragment i.e. not very well.

To be clear, I start my clean save in Whiterun, if I punch Ysolda first and then Danica or the other way around, I only get the following:

DPAN: victim is Danica Pure-Spring, attacker is [Actor < (00000014)>]

never anything for Ysolda.

Any suggestions?

That did the trick, thankyou.

On a related note, I've read that assaulting animals gets a bounty if they are owned and that killing one can count as murder; do you know if that is correct? It might explain why I keep failing to avoid murdering:)

And it seems that when my back is turned outside the Whiterun walls, Serana attacks a surprisingly large number of deer:)

If an animal is owned, killing it would cause a bounty.

I do not think deer are owned so Serana killing them should not be an issue. But if you've got a mod that gives a "robin hood vibe" to the game, then maybe the deer are "owned" by one of the Jarls or by the Emperor.

I've been testing since that post. I found that killing a deer was not a murder, but so far it seems that attacking one counted as an assault, still testing that. It may also be where the deer is, I was attacking them by Silent Moons Camp which may still be part of the Whiterun area. In the same area I have been unable to get attacking a giant to count as assault or murder, but I wouldn't want to be definitive on that. I do have a limited mod install for testing but there are some, so maybe there is an effect. And who knows, maybe the AE update made changes?

But I seem to have got the story manager part working for me, so thankyou again:)
