Foxonas
Hey everyone, I haven't played Skyrim for about a week. My PC was off most of the time, didn't do anything special. Today I have decided to play Skyrim but it just won't launch. At first I thought is was just the Skyrim Script Extender loader not working, but then I tried launching simply Skyrim Special Edition. Only launch menu showed up with a pop-up saying about getting my pc info to adjust game graphic settings. When I pressed "PLAY", once again - didn't launch. No error, no nothing. Anyone else experienced it? Maybe anyone knows a fix? Thanks. Edited June 20, 2022 by Foxonas
anjenthedog
first off, I think steam launches either automatically on Windows startup (optional config) or manually. Unless it just sent an update, at which point it waits for the user to agree to installing the version and then boot it in online or offline mode.In either case, afaik it asks which mode you want to be in when it boots. So, question is, Steam in Online mode? or Offline mode? If in online mode, and if you think/thought you're using 1.5.97, you may have fallen to the "AE" (1.6x) upgrade after a steam update. That's a whole ball of wax I can't help with, since I haven't experienced it myself yet (still on 1.5.97), other than to refer you to a host of posts regarding "skyrim special edition downgrading downgrade AE 1.5.97 steam" If in offline mode, I got nuffin. some mod you maybe installed and forgot you installed last time? And of course, make sure Steam is actually fired up. The game won't run unless it is.
showler
If you got the popup about getting your graphics settings I think that means there is a problem with your ini files.

However, I noticed that when I launch Skyrim and trying to play it, my Steam goes into "In-Game Skyrim bla bla bla" and after a few seconds it turns blue (Online) again. If you got the popup about getting your graphics settings I think that means there is a problem with your ini files. Will it help if I delete those ini's? showler
You could try purging your mods, do a repair with Steam and run it vanilla. Once it's working again you can re-deploy the mods to get back up and running again.

Anselmp
It would help others if you said which mod caused the problem.
