Adding Hair to a Race

Hi All,

I'm having great trouble adding hair to a race. I've got the Shadow Hunter races that I'd like to add some of Ren's and Soya's hair to. So, I've opened the editor (using all three esps, setting Shadow Hunter as active), opened both the hair and race windows, and dragged the hair that I want into the hair section in the Shadow Hunter race window. Then I save.

When I open it up again, the hair is lost! I know the file has actually saved though, because I removed an effect a spell, and that has stuck.

Can anyone help?

You cannot use resources from other .esp directly. I mean, unless you made these hair addons to master of your plugin or physically merge all the plugins(via tool like TES4Gecko), you cannot use new hairs for the race like that.

Yes you can. All you have to do is duplicate and rename the hair templates and then drag only the new templates to your race. Because you've made changes in the active esp, it will save. It's still looking in the same directories for the meshes and textures anyway. I do this all the time.

Of course I'm sure this will technically fall under the description of "physically merging" but whatever you call it, it works and I feel that it's simpler than using another program if you only have a handful of hairs to adapt.

The only .esp you need to open is the race you want to modify.

once thats open, go to race -> Hair.

In that dialouge box, rightclick and press new.

Give that new hair a formID and a name, then path its nif and textures correctly. make sure you have it checked playable.

That too. :D There's more than one way to do it.
