mmd6449
And I'm not talking about dialogue moving too fast, I'm talking about no dialogue whatsoever. But, as the title of this thread implies implies, the problem only seems to arise with certain mods. I have The Golden Crest - A Major Pirate Quest installed and USV works fine with that. I've also had it work just fine with Mannimarco Resurrection on a previous playthrough. However, I'm noticing that none of the NPCs on Stirk have dialogue, nor do the ship captains on Passenger Ships of Cyrodiil, and nor does the innkeeper at the Black Flag Tavern on the Anvil Bay Expansion mod. Considering that it seems to work at least some of the time, I don't think that the problem is with the USV mod itself but, with my modding knowledge being as limited as it is, I don't have the first clue what the problem might be. Anyone have any idea how I can diagnose the issue and what I can do to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help. Guest deleted2027229
All you need to do is push escape to freeze the game and read the dialogue. No need to bloat your game with needless mods.
RomanR
Because the Universal Silent Voice is an OBSE plugin, and The Golden Crest seems doesn't need OBSE for running, the chance for direct conflict is quite unlikely. This mod also offers its own "silent" voice files, so you propably don't even need this plugin (for this mod at least). You can: 1. Unistall USV - as I wrote it's an unlikely culprit, but it's the easiest way to test.2. Try some advanced mod manager - some has tools for detecting conflicts within active mods (for example Oblivion Mod Manager). But with your level of knowledge I wouldn't recommend to make some automated cleanup, just uninstall mods, which could cause conlicts or try change The Golden Crest mod order to load it last. Oblivionaddicted
You can create silent lip files using TES4Gecko or the CS extender. Edited July 13, 2022 by Oblivionaddicted
mmd6449
Thank you all for the responses. I tried deleting USV but, unfortunately, all it did was eliminate the subtitles for The Golden Crest. All of the other mods I mentioned (Stirk, Passenger Ships of Cyrodiil, Anvil Bay Expansion) still lack subtitles as well. Kind of at a loss about what to do here.
RomanR
If USV is not a culprit, then it could be some conflict between mods. Is there a problem only in subtitles or there are also missing topics as well? Or maybe other mods are using some nonstandard way which USV can't handle. Are both general and dialogue subtitles on (for testing)? Edit: All dialogues are tied to running quests, if they aren't working, there must be something to make them unoperational. The most case is straight conflict when two mods edit same things and last mod in order overwrites things (exterior, interior, NPCs, quests ...) set by the others.
