New premium member, but...

Hello All

 

Just purchased a premium membership to nexus because i wanted to support, but in doing so, it is to my understanding that download speeds would be unlimited?

Yet currently the file im trying to download (15gb) is taking 4 hours... (Rather jumps between 1 and 8 hours)

 

Am I maybe doing something wrong or did i misunderstand the benefits of premium?

You understand the downloads are faster. The two reasons the download is slow are. The servers congested with people downloading the same mod.

 

The other reason may be related to the ISP you have. One: they could be experiencing lots of traffic and that will cause the slow too. Turn off any background apps. Clean your computers Temp folder in Windows so your computers not slowed either.

 

Two: the thing I found out about routers recently is. The ones we have today are better suited to be used in their Wi-Fi/Mi-Fi state. The Wi-Fi/Mi-Fi service on our routers is faster now-a-days as it is using the new 5G LTE and the 6G LTE 801.2 b.g.n, and ax which are faster in the Mi-Fi/Wi-Fi settings. Use your computers internal wi-fi connection rather than the LAN cable. If your computer is capable of using the LAN leave it plugged and turn on your computer's Wi-Fi/Mi-Fi connection. Try it with the Wi-Fi/Mi-Fi turned on.

 

When the wi-fi/mi-fi is turned On, on my router the computer automatically uses it and not the LAN. FAST 50 Mbps downloads and up to 10 Mbps uploads.

You can also try choosing different servers to DL from instead of just the default server. The options appear there on the download window, when you start to download the file. The default is naturally going to have the most traffic, as it generally gets most of the vortex downloads.

 

Also, weekends are high traffic times for ALL networks.

Thank you for all the info.

I should have stated that i have very fast internet 500mbit down and up, so 15 gigs should take me max 5-10 minutes to download, wich caused my whole confusion.

And i did also try both with cable connected and just my wi-fi,, both with same result.

 

I did not see any difference in speed what so ever from downloading the mod in question on a free user or on a platinum user and also tried 3 different servers but all was 4 hours or higher so that didnt do me any good either...

 

 

Conclusion,, i did get the mod downloaded in 2 hours time after all but the reason i felt it nescesary to post, was because it DID say unlimited download speed, i did´nt feel like that was what i was getting,,,

Oh and to test the theory with multiple people downloading same mod,,, i went back and downloaded and old mod on about 4 gigs just to see if it would download faster,,, but,,,still 35 minutes for 3.6 gigs is kinda disapointing with unlimited dl speed :sad:

Vortex is a Serious Game Library & Mod organizer. Completely orientated to be like STEAM only with a better attachment called a mod organizer to set mods up in the specific game you are downloading mods.

 

When I download mods I still prefer the one made by some of the same people that help build Vortex. I tested Vortex before Vortex got out of diapers.

 

I find Mod Organizer 2 does it almost like Vortex just fine.

It was manual downloads.

I have Vortex aswell, i think its awesome,, but the mods i mostly get are overhaul mods, so, to my understanding its best to do the .rar file and just extract that and put in game folders.

So rarely use vortex currently but i love it for its simplicity ;)

You're all set than. The oddity being you have equipment that is fast, most likely equal to the Fastest of servers the CDN server. Unless a server from one of the other states or providences is closer to you CDN is the server to set as the permanent one.
