How to safely move mods from one game instance to another

Hello, I have a question regarding vortex. I have two instances of skyrim on my pc and one of them is being managed by vortex and has 410 mods. Redoing this mod build on the other game instance would be quite a pickle thus I am wondering if there is any way to safely change the managed instance in vortex and move all the mods there.

For example, what would happen if I move all the contents from the modded game folder to the unmodded and change the managed instance in vortex, would it recognise everything or would it start unpacking all mods from scratch? How should I resolve this?

It's pretty easy.

  1. In the Mods section click "Purge Mods" this will unlink any mod content from the current game folder.
  2. In the Games section find the game you're playing click on the top-right button.
  3. Select "Manually set location" and point it to the install folder of the other instance.
  4. Restart Vortex (there are some checks that are only run during startup that need to be re-run).
  5. In the Mods section, deploy your mods.

Note that saved games, settings files and things like load order may need to be adjusted after doing this.
